Ice cream is always a good idea.

I like ice-cream stops too But they are usually very high in fat which some people find hard to digest whilst running.

Less than two weeks until Abingdon marathon so I'm on taper now. Going to keep myself happy by entering Outlaw Half this week. And my brother (who lives in Berlin) is paying my entry to Berlin Marathon as a Christmas pressie. So that's my two main events sorted for next year

I'm actually looking forward to building up my bike strength.... could you remind me I said that in a few months time?...

sounds like a great couple of events for next year chili

finally put the spare wheel with turbo tyre on the bike last night and had a good turbo session this morning. Well, felt good - 10mins warm up, 10 x 1min fast 1 min easy then 10 mins cool down. Is that an ok session?? thought it was better to do that than just steady pedalling. Then some nice stretching.

Chilli it was years ago but did berlin when I was a young man (like I said it was years ago). It's brilliant.

Mathschick I would do want ever feels comfutable for the torbo for a few weeks about thinking to muck about what sort of sessions you could be doing on one. There are torbo training sessions you can get on the internet with music and motivation shouting at you if your interested and sure someone out that can give you a link to a good one. When i use them I mostly just switch on radio 4 or put on a dvd and and mantain a steady pace chilling.

I just go for steady pace 30/60 minutes just keep legs spinning 60/80 rpm

Chilli Berlin? You going international now
09/10/2012 at 14:34

next step is to actually put the cadence sensor I got ages ago onto the bike....

maybe until I do the marathon I will stick with steady pace and MTV.....

Hi everyone, just popping in to see how you are all doing. I have been realigned by the osteopath, seems my little unclipping fall caused my pelvis to twist again. Got another exercise to do, so the list is growing, but she has said I can try doing a HIM. Off shortly to the running club AGM. Meeting will be boring but seeing friends and having drinks and nibbles will be good.

Good plan Chilli, having 2 races in a year gives you something to keep training for, I find after my A race I just get lazy.
Mathschick, I have not got round to putting the cadence sensor on yet either.

Cake you are younger than me, so it is rather worrying to hear you say you ran Berlin when you were a young man! Oh noooooo, I'm getting old. My girls tell me I'm not, and at the last holiday club in July I was voted the 'coolest mum' but I can see my grey hairs and wrinkles.....

ST, yeah, I'm going international and really looking forward to it. I've never been to Berlin. My brother moved there in 2004 but I had too many babies to take or leave. So I'm really excited about it although it's not until next September.

MC - ummm, I haven't set up my turbo yet, so sorry, haven't a clue.

Steady, you take care of yourself. Hope you had a good time with drinks and nibbles.

Just been swimming and am now rather hungry so off to find some food.

Hi Gang,
Ran 5.6 miles with Horse tonight in 56 mins, avg 10.01 m/ m, first mile 11 min, second and third miles 9.25, 9.35 and the last 2 miles were uphill around 10.45, 11. 00 mins so I'm happy with the pace and felt great no ill effects so onwards and upwards.

Taper madness Chili? Good luck.

Well done Razor, you must be really happy with that.

Maths - nice session.

Steady - enjoy the evening. Hic!

Yeah Cat , feeling really positive now.
10/10/2012 at 08:02

steady - take it easy and concentrate on recovery

razor - well done, great that things are on the up

had a good run last night with the running club, although when I got back to the car I discovered my legs were covered with blood caused by chafing. Looks like someone has taken a cheese grater to my inner thigh! No-one at the club mentioned it - hopefully it was too dark and they didn't see!

then despite feeling tired and nodding off in front of the telly I couldn't sleep when I got into bed so didn't manage to get up early for a run today. Will probably skip my evening swimming session tonight in favour of an early night, and will have to rejig the weeks training sessions to fit in more running and swimming

10/10/2012 at 10:17

Ah you lot are so good with your training! I still haven't managed a run and haven't been swimming for ages. Was supposed to cycle to training but flat tyre and no time to fix it meant it didn't happen.

Razor - it's all coming back, nice run.

10/10/2012 at 10:41
Cheers all, MC if you feel tired don't force yourself take an early rest day and shift things around.
10/10/2012 at 10:55

Right well I'm sulking... Been sidelined again for last few weeks with the heel thing. It feels like everyone I start to get somewhere something happens. Razor, you're an inspiration me dear. So gonna start again and see how it goes...

Sounds like things going well Maths, apart from the cheese trying thing. Gotta get me a turbo, all a it chilly out there.
Chilli - what is it about swimming that makes you starving? Don't get it with running or cycling.
Steady - keep plugging on, hope the drinks and nibbles went well!

10/10/2012 at 11:36

Drink and nibbles were good, but I ended up going back on the committee again. This time I am doing race results, which seems like a small role thank goodness.

Mrs Digger, I know what its like being sidelined. Can you swim at present? I agree with you about swimming making you starving.

Razor you are doing great, I hope one day to do a 10 min mile again, even if its only one mile.

10/10/2012 at 12:07

Would you believe swimming hurts... Finding it difficult to do my job (on my feet all day) then train. Gonna cutback all round and hopefully get through to Jan intact.

Mrs Digger ((((((hugs))))) but chuck if you have niggles just take it easy and heal before enbarking on massive training. Know that sounds annoying through chuck. If you get frustrated feel free to go GGGRRRRR!!!!

Razor nice one.

and Chilli I'm actually older than I look.  I think I was about 25? when I did berlin I find it hard to think that far back. Only gripe about the race was all the locals where at the side of the road giving away fruit and other food it was hell I tell you hell.  Keep saying I'm going to go back there one year very much doult it will be next one through because of the bank balance.

No cake you do look 49 mate its Chilli who's looking good for 52;) ok I'm out of here..................
