I think there are a few of us doing the 112 before Outlaw. It's my first IM too, so I'll be doing the 112 to boost confidence, check nutrition, and get set for the big day. I'm hoping that it will be ok!

Going out for a steady 60 odd with friends this weekend, may try and tag a harder few on at the end to build up

If anyone is interested this is on beginning of June...

A ride out and a wee jog to follow

tempted with the 85 + 5K but I will be very slow

I like the fact there is a big hill like at outlaw but then again that also scares me!!

(Deep voice) *Cough please*

I was concerned (ish) about the hill at Outlaw. If it wasn't for the sign's I'd have missed it.

Alibear30, the 112 gave me a massive confidence boost before my first iron distance at Outlaw last year. The Outlaw course felt just as flat and the crowds speed you up in every discipline/. I was so impressed with the confidence gained in doing 7 hours at flat out and 6 45 at Outlaw that I will attempt the longer distance at flat out to make everything else seem like a quick trip out to stretch the legs,  it's all in the mind......

so for someone who is pushing the cut off & not great at hills would this be a good thing or bad thing?

I like the idea of doing a longer ride with the potential of support but don't want to break myself!

Pix, the more long rides you do the more confident you will be at outlaw. No need to hammer the training rides.... Nice and slow and rake a rest day after them to recover. Long slow hilly rides are the key.

I'm entered for the 112 route. Fingers crossed for a non windy day.

The Leicestershire one looks good to but I can't get a pass out for that weekend as it's the weekend after Outlaw Half.

Longer supported ride sounds just the ticket for everyone, can take it at your own pace and it's a massive boost to be able to do the distance in training with no pressure .. There could be a good group of us going out for 112 with the option of me bending your ear about taking the long route if the day is going well,  not because I am anything of a cyclist but just because I'm bloody minded enough to give it a go.

Hmm, weather forecast not looking good, still time for it to change yet.

Think we are planning on a 7.30 start - probably be wearing Derby club kit if anyone is around at the start then.

The 70.3 at Wimbleball has screwed up my carefully made plans pre Outlaw  and I now have to pull out of the 152 ( and even the 112 would be a stretch at this point ). Looking back over this thread some were keen others thought it to close, it's a personal thing in the end.

I don't wish to ruin Outlaw for the chance of a long bike ride so I am out, and resting!

Good luck to all those doing flat -out , and see some of you at Outlaw

Got my pack through so I'm all set but it looks like I need to check the weather forecast.
