What a cracking end to the race.  Proper 'do or die' in the alps.

Another daft question, I know the answer will be 'because the UCI don't allow it', but does anyone know the thinking behind not allowing tri-spoke or even full disc front wheels in the TT stage?

Not sure what the UCI rules for wheels are for TTs - different to the CTT rules anyway as some riders have got into trouble riding UCI legal wheels in CTT events - I think they do allow tri spokes and they were quite popular a year or two ago - not sure about front discs.

erm, hi....sorry to intrude, quite new to cycling and was wondering, on the TT stages, do ALL the riders compete, or just the team leaders etc?....sorry if thats a stupid question.

They all take part, but most aren't 'competing' as such, many just do enough to make sure they're within the elimination time.  The only ones truly going flat out are either:

1. In with a shout of winning the stage (Martin, Cancellara etc)
2. In with a shout of winning the tour, or securing a high finish position
3. Up for contract renewal and want to impress team owners.

Whilst on the TdF theme ... This is still just wrong ...
