Ok so i'm in training for a triathlon, my question is do you do your first tri then get the pirate kit or do you do your first tri in pirate kit?

I know you guys don't really follow rules but.................

You buy the kit and then sign up for an IM

I wont buy the kit until I've completed my first Tri......

The egg.

or was it the chicken?

I did my first triathlon (Bala) in Pirate kit having already entered IMDE.

It's my own weird thing.  Until I am I wont advertise myself as such.  I am rather excited about becoming a Pirate....it'll be weird balancing it with being a Fetchie too though.

And don't forget the pirate initiation ceremony... <gets out the rubber gloves, marmite and nipple clamps>

Could I please have the initiation ceremony, but not bother with a triathlon or any kit?!

You have to have something to wear, it's in the rules. And being chased by a load of horny wasps makes you go faster.

And fetch is training compatible!

I'm doing my first tri in the kit, and i've not yet signed up for an Ironman, so don't worry about it

*wonders whether it was sensible to use the word "yet" in that sentence?"  probably not.....

sorry, I should clarify.  "yet" in Scottish means "and shall never be in the position where I can say that I have"

 There, sorted

I'm confused - what is it that actually qualifies one as a Pirate?

I thought it was completing an IM?

you could say that its signing up for an IM

you could say its just posting on ths forum, and buying some kit...... and starting on the(long) road to a IM.  You have to start somewhere so sprints are allowed, (people then find out that sprints are only a couple of hrs so mive up the distances......)

It's up to you basically. I borrowed a Pirate top for my 3rd tri (having already done two I think) and then bought some kit for my subsequent races.
