New trail race
Did a recce a few weeks ago - OMG! Hope to get another few in before the main event - excited but bricking it all at the same time!
Covered 10 miles over Caesars on Sunday, and loved it. Didn't quite follow the course, but covered most of the same ground. For guidance does the course follow the gravelled paths, or go through more of the single track?
Note of caution for the cow-nervous - they're in the woods at he moment, if you go off the wider paths you might come across a small herd on the single track! (and then cr@p your pants and run away - like I did )
kicked off the plan with a steady 10 miler this morning with a couple more to do tonight
Bit of both from memory pmo. More gravel/rock early on then onto some forest and single track. I like the forest section of the lap.
Might pop down for a run around there before the race but its marked well enough so I wouldn't say it is necessary.
Are you in for the 50 or 100 VB?
In for the 100 - will be aiming for 27:59:59 but judging on previous year's results that may be a push
The main thing is to make sure you don't go too fast for the first laps - sounds obvious I suppose, but it can often turn round and bite you in the bum later on if you don't.....unless you're Daz of course
and there was me hoping he wuold be jogging around this time
Lol never mate!
Well that's my race plan out the window! I best get training... Have you recovered ok after Cotswold/NDW?
I'm over most of it, at least as fit as I was at NDW and the achilles is much better. On a hard week, lakes, then sprint tri, so will prob be knackered come mid Sep
Good news mate... enjoy the Lakes!
Just had a biopsy on my forearm and told not to do anything that requires figorous moevent (lol) for a week so hiking it will be.
How are you btw - better off the L100? I will be picking your brains on that at CC.
If you are in the lakes then you can get a lot of quality hiking in!
I am much better now, I was not in a good way after that really. Not sure what the problem was but it wrote me of for NDW too. Back in full training now, very excited about CC, ask away mate. Are you going for it in 2013? I am going to d othe 50.
By the sounds of things it may be full by the time I decide to enter. Just how tough is the 100? Compared to say the BGR, CC100
If you learn the course it becomes an easier challenge. It is hard on your feet but overall I wouldnt say it beats you up too much if you approach it correctly. Definitely a harder course than CC100 though.
I have had people tell me it is harder than a BGR purely for the extra distance and the underfoot being rougher. Others says BGR is hard as you climb more in less distance.
I did it as my first 100 and finished ok on what I would consider now to be below adequate training for it.
Cheers. where can I find the course? I might check some of it out next week while im up there.

Less than 3 weeks... Everyone getting set?
Daz, are you feeling fast? Got some lead socks here if you care to wear them!
Not ready yet, got a big week this week.
Spent all last week doing daily hill reps
Have got a beautiful new merino wool base layer though and some new waterproofs
Are we heading for bad weather?
I guess if you are doing the 100 will make good use of it through the night. Doing the 50 will get away without going through the night.
