Not to sure if my shoes came back or I was just wearing ceaser's camp.

How are the legs today? I am better than I had expected by certainly no recovery run just yet! I am going to clean my shoes today though (I said that yesterday too!). They are in desperate need of it.

VB - Hope you are suffering no ill effects. Well, nothing beyodn what running 50 miles does to you. Sounds like you did the right thing, never a nice choice to make though. I think 11:58 may have put you reasonably high up in the 50 such was the attrition rate!

I am surprisingly chipper this morning

No blisters, toe nails all in tact and walking with no (or at least not too many) problems

My time would have been 7th in the proper 50 mile race. Two ladies finished in just under 18 hrs on the 50 and they loved every gruesome minute of it as we cheered them in.

I stayed around until 1st and 2 nd finished. Many thanks to James and Robbie for taking care of me. Does anyone know what happened to Dave the mad Irishman in the skimpy yellow shorts or is he still running around out there?

Good stuff. I did see the 2 ladies you mention a couple of times. Each time they looked very happy!

Have put a report together. Can't promise that its massively interesting!

WiB - FFS !

You can have no idea how much that has just peed me off

Seriously that is hugely impressive

22/10/2012 at 12:31

Nice report WiB.  That first lap was fun....perhaps we forgot there were another 4

Sorry VB! Were you in the TriTalk gear? Think I recognised you from Thames Path as I was at Cookham aid station. Will be at Winter 100 helping out so will try to say hello.

Cheers Daz, it was certainly fun... Not seen a blow up as early as that before. 4 laps later it didnt seem like a good idea though in terms of setting the ideal overall time.

22/10/2012 at 13:04

yep, that was me

you were going like a train when you overtook me, very impressive

22/10/2012 at 14:38

well done everybody who completed 50 and 100, hats off to anybody in the weather who did the 100. I was running second in 100 after 50 miles, but weather got to me and had the worst head torch which shone at best 2 foot in front and spent my time slipping and a sliding! so quit at 55

23/10/2012 at 23:43

Well done to all who finished at the weekend.

Gave it a good try but Henk stopped me and my mate from carrying on with just 2 hours and 10 minutes left as we wouldn't be able to finish the lap.

Got 80 miles done and ran the last lap quicker than the previous 2.

Will be back again next year.

Maybe join you on the 100 next year Dave
24/10/2012 at 09:01

I'll see you next year, and the year after until I get the 100

24/10/2012 at 13:29

I saw Dave the Irishman - looked out on his feet at around 12.30pm. We also ran together at around 6 pm as he didn`t take his torch.

My blog for those who haven`t read it

Hope everyone`s recovery is coming along well.

I`ll be back next year

Mr K

Nice report

Word of advice - Henk does not like his course details put up on the internet (ie Garmin routes etc) as it spoils the surprise, especially for the 30 milers who only get to see it in the dark

24/10/2012 at 14:48

Hey Mr. K.  Here's my carbon copy of your report.

Good meeting you if only briefly and in a bit of a bad place, just at the end.

24/10/2012 at 14:50

Matt nice report and cheers for the link... well done on your run. I must have seen you near the end of your 4th lap?! I was in the white/blue vest with black arm warmers on.

24/10/2012 at 17:39

I think you were going too fast for me to see you.    Amazing run and you got it mostly done in daylight and all in the dry.

Hello Matt, I wondered who those carrots were for  I ate & drunk very little really - 330ml flat coke, 3 cups of orange, 2 gels, 1 Muller Rice, 3 coffees, a couple of sweets & a jelly.

veggieboy - Thanks for tip of - I`ll click private on the Garmin settings later. (Sorry Henk)

Though intending to do the 100, after the 50 with issues with right knee decided to call it a day, does anybody know how long Henk takes to update website with results? As keen to see where my time of 9 hours 30 mins would have placed me.
