New trail race
I'm the Irish idiot who wore yellow running shorts and a white T shirt the whole race cause I locked meself out of the car! Reckon with warmer night clothing (and another 9 hours or so) I could have finished! Like the look of w c hundred in March, but already entered Viking Way Ultra - probably muddy, but at least it'll be flat(ish)
Hi Dave, good to hear from you
Are you going back again next year ?
Henk extended a warm invitation for me to return next year - so I probably won't!!!
Results uploaded... finally
Sorry for the wait, it's been a manic few weeks.
My garage still looks shit with tents drying and generator, tables, water barrels everywhere.
David, I take your point about elitism on board. If I would have no job, or a job that would not make me be away from home most of the year, I happily stay longer. The problem is that some folks in the past simply walk the damn thing which goes against the nature of organising a race. I spent hundreds of hours on this every year. The race is just the final culmination of it all.
You are most welcome and I reckon you can make the cut-off. This year the conditions were the worst they have ever been...
Thanks Henk, the file is uploaded and can be accessed via typing the address, but the link is not on the website.
Was good to see my time even if dropped out after 50. Intend to come back next year and pray for sun.
Check under past results.... That's where I found it
Thanks Henk for your further welcome and your confidence in my ability! Also many thanks to you and the volunteers for a well organised race.
But a point I feel I must make is that in running or any sport for that matter there is always going to be a wide disparity in copetitors' abilities - some make it all look rediculously easy, while the rest of us have to struggle - we can only give our best on the day. Adopting the 'innocent must suffer with the guilty' approach doesn't work in my oppinion. While I can understand your frustration at watching people 'walk in' as they did last year, it was not they who were last to finish, it was yours truly!
I'll think about next year, but there are also many logistical problems in coming over - if I use public transport, which I had planned to do this year before a 2 hour flight delay ruled this out (missed my train connection) then I'm left with no shelter during the race. If I hire a car, I'm faced with the prospect of driving an unfamiliar car in an unfamiliar area having not slept for close to 40 hours!!! Another conundrum.
Thanks Henk and everybody that helped you.
Great to see my time, I can't wait till next year where I'm aiming for a massive improvement.
Jay, do you have any further details, link?
Sounds interesting. Just how far is that?
Mayve it would be more polite to move this to it's own thread? But I'd be interested
Started running with a group who are much faster than I am, so fingers crossed for a much better result next year
FIONA MCNELIS, you did not include an email with your entry and your cheque is not correct . If you would like an entry could you send a cheque and your e-mail address. Any questions drop me an e mail.
