Surely no-one runs in waterproof trousers? I'm off to look this up..panicking over kit inspection...

Weedy-I'm staying at Twice Brewed so will no doubt say hi. Thinking after a day on his own driving the lanes of Cumbria in the rain my oh might deserve a lengthy mile-by-mile breakdown of my day..and I may not be at my most sociable after a day running in the wet stuff. Don't be offended if we sit alone (with no shoes on and yawning!) Play it by ear...

I agree RaRa.  I've looked at the Youtube video (again) and there's no one wearing leggings - and that was in horrendous conditions.  We'll await the Rat Race response!

Leggings were a compulsory last year, yet no one had them, I found the first half last year to be some of the worst conditions I ever ran in but leggings didn't spring to mind. If I have to start with them I will but will likely ditch them

I've emailed Rat Race too...really don't want to spend (more) money on kit I'll never use!

I should be working but I've spent the last hour fretting over this.

I was planning on not bothering as well and just putting some tights in the halfway bag but you’re all making me paranoid now! I’ve got a £10 pair of waterproofs that I’ll be putting in now I guess. They’re tiny so I guess it’s not too much of a hassle. I got them from Mountain Warehouse if anyone lives near one and they’ll do the trick perfectly if they’re not wanted. Saving that Decathlon also have some for the same price that I’ve got but they’re slightly heavier.

It doesn’t feel real anymore. We’ve got four days until most of us will be approaching half way. After six months of build up I’m getting pretty nervous! And rain! More bloody rain!

Alright, rant over  ;)

I don't think it's to do with running in wind/waterproofs.

It's more the health and safety aspect of if you get lost/stranded/injured with very little protection if only wearing shorts.

A bit similar to the space blanked requirement. You're not going to run with it wrapped around you but you'll use it if you get in trouble.

More of a arse covering excercise from Rat Race. Can sort of see both sides of the argument.

I will take waterproof trousers, stick them in my bag, and hopefully never look at them the whole weekend.

I got a nice Montane waterproof jacket yesterday that packs away so small you could stick in in your pocket

Does anyone know if we can charge phones up etc at the overnight campsite?  It says we have to have mobile phones, but I know mine will run out of power after 1 day

Graham that makes more sense! There were some  for £8 in Tesco the other day I think I'll go and get them. Waterproofs are light enough and since I've no intention of wearing them they don't need to be fancy kit..plus I won't be fretting over whether they'll be delivered on time.

It's says Full windproof/shower proof body cover so for me it's a Gore Jacket for the top and a bin bag for the bottom think that conforms and as somebody said I think it's more for if you are injured and have to stop running

They can enforce that you carry them (in case of injury), but don't think they can force you to wear particular things at any point. Mine will live in my bag unless there's a hail of frogs.

Stick a cheap pair in your bag and there'll be no argument, I reckon.

Well, that's the order for food emailed in.

It's all suddenly getting far too real

I'm more than happy for this to be real Cabbey - training for about 5 months.  I'm ready and excited.  Been out on my bike today to give my tootsies a bit of rest and will probably have another shortish ride tomorrow.  A brief spell in the gym on Thurs, mainly core and foam rollering.  Then that's it - to Didcot for 1300 to catch the train Friday.

Still hoping the weather blows out - heavy rain for Sat at the moment.  Hard to believe when I'm enjoying possibly the best evening of the year so far.

Managed to locate a 65L pack.  Just have to squash it all in a bit tighter!

PS.  Many, many thanks for sorting the food order Cabbey.

Yay Cabbey - well done, and many thanks on herding us cats for supper.

Not quite finished packing, something about an ever-growing list of gee-gaws...

The weather is now looking officially toss!  There's even a little lightning symbol!

Did my packing last night and my halfway bag is over by about a kilo. Bugger. It's all Powerade and a spare bag I don't expect to need though so can probably shift it to the  one kilogram finish bag if needed on saturday morning if they kick up a fuss.

Thanks Cabbey. Good idea emailing rather than calling to save having to pronounce all that!

Have done 100k on the bike the past couple of days and was going to do the same over the next couple but decided I'll rest instead. Maybe a little run but may even leave that with my knee worry.

Richard - I'm at the same point I just want to be on the start line now!
