Shoe recommendations for tarmac 24hr race

Hi guys

I'm looking for suggestions for good comfy shoes for a 24hr race on tarmac. My normal shoes are Mizuno Wave Mushas but they have little to no cushioning so I think they will be wholly unsuitable (and painful) for that kind of time on feet. I also like the Mizuno Wave Elixirs but not sure if they would be any better?

 Any suggestions would be appreciated!

 Thanks

I assume you are doing a lot of mileage and not training for a 24hr race in shoes that have little cushioning, so what are you using for your long sessions? Whatever you are using will be your best bet as you will be used to them. Try alternating two pairs through the day.

Thanks

I've only ever been using Mizuno Wave Mushas and Sauchony Fasttwich 3's for all runs. These are fine up to marathon distance but above that my feet start to get sore with the lack of cusioning. I think for a 24hr race they would cause me too much additional discomfort.

I know everyone is different with shoes but if people could post what they have used in the past for 24hr or 100 mile tarmac races, it would be a big help.

 Thanks

I used my normal trainers-Asics 1000 or whatever they were at the time (might have been Gel 140s but they change every year).  Most people take several pairs of shoes and change them furing the race.  And maybe a bigger pair for later on to accomadate swollen feet.

b7, is it the Perth Ultrafest? If so see you there Regarding the shoes, as comfy as poss! Seriously, ran 24 hours in Basel on tarmac and the pain in my (and a lot of other people's)feet was bad. Agree with the bigger pair for swollen feet later on.

Thanks Ultra Hamster and MrsMac. Yep MrsMac its Perth! Looks like I'm going to go out and buy two new pairs of shoes, one with at least some cushioning and one a size bigger than normal! This is a complete unknown for me, I don't have a clue what I'm getting myself into! lol

 Thanks for the advice
