As everyone seems quite taken with Shotbloks, I warn you I will be trying to get you all to eat the out-of-date ones I have when I turn up at the same events as you!  I bought a box of them and found I just didn't like eating anything that chewy when running.

Rosemary have you tried just holding them in your mouth when you run? I quite like shot bloks but like you I'm it a huge fan of spending ages chewing while I'm running so I tend to just suck them as I run, that way I get a slow release of carbs as I go and they disappear fairly easily

I lob a moutful of water in at the same time. I don't have an issue with them early on but after a while when your mouth dries out they take a little more work to get through.

Lirish, yes I've tried that too.  They are an awful lot of work to get the same amount of carbs as a quick-to-eat gel.

i really like them-especially the blue ones !!! well , ok, ive ONLY tried the blue ones

they are sooooo easy to eat just erm, suck and swa-..oh dear thats not going to sound right is it....

How can you forget purple - it's your colour

I think it's blue and orange that have caffeine and purple that doesn't - so the blue one made you quickerer, and the purple one made you less hungry

did a sprint tri on sunday and have 800m and 1500m track races on fri.  strange week for an ultra runner.

The benefit of youth - all this speed and this weird thing you speak of called "track"!

Daz is even worse than WiB - 800m? that's how long my Garmin is running for before I cross the start line usually!
