Well one of my all time favourite events is the mightcontainnuts 40 in the Brecon Beacons at the beginning of December, I know Dill is doing it too so that's two of us already. Otherwise the Arthur Newton 100 just before Christmas

Haven't ran in Dorset before but know the CTS are well organised on brutal courses, having done the MCN series for a couple of years now I'd recommend them every time, brilliant courses through some stunning scenery organised by a bunch of us who really love the sport

If I'm going to be sensible and NOT go for Comrades next year but concentrate on training for Lakeland 50 after doing London Marathon, anyone got any suggestions for something else in the 30-40 mile range I could do in between? Preferably trail, preferably on a Sunday.

I'm thinking it might not be sensible to go for Comrades when (a) I'll probably still be recovering from London just when I should be putting in my longest training runs for Comrades; (b) my "A" goal for next year is Lakeland 50 so I need to make sure I've got time to spend training on trails for that, not trying to get my road mileage up.

The MCN40 sounds good, but a few logistical queries:

1. Is it reachable by train or do we need to drive?
2. If the accommodation fills up is there anything else nearby?
3. Are we likely to need headtorches etc? I don't have one yet, as I haven't done any night events.

Rosemary its not reachable by train but I'm
Icing up a friend of mine from a station nearby on the night, no reason I can't come get you too. The accommodation is a hostel at the start line, there's usually space there but there's also plenty of b&bs in the village. You will need a head torch but if you don't have one yet I'd be happy to lend you one for the race.

O crap I really don't know what to do now!

I'm entering GUCR, WSER and UTMB for next year with my fingers crossed at getting in one of them. Lakeland 100 was going to be my reserve choice but at the rate it's selling out i've got to decide now..

Might have to enter and stomach the 50% fee if i have to pull out.

Well I'm definitely in for UTMB next year, I'll stick in an application for States just for a shot with the intention of doing the Laverdo Ultra Trail if I don't get in so Lakeland just doesn't fit in for me

*Dill*... you could always wait until entries are full and get yourself top of the reserve list. You will get asked about April time and by then you shoudl know if you want to reject it?!

Lirish - I am going to put my name in the big hat for CCC so am only in for the 50 at lakeland.
