Some time ago, there was talk about there being a "South Downs Way" ultra trail run. Does anyone know whether this is still a possibility, and if so what's the scoop? Thanks...

Could be the 'Trailwalker' Event. Petersfield to Brighton 100km.

There are many other events including the Haywards Heath Downland 30 on 1st July. A 15mile out and back starting at Clayton.

No it's not the trailwalker, I remember a while ago someone was thinking of organising it putting out the feelers. I think there was something in last years Road Runners club directory or maybe one of the RRC mags about it. Try e-mailing the RRC and see if they know.

Ended up doing a google search... If anyone's interested search on
"South Downs Way" Relay

Apaprently there's a 100 mile relay (18 legs) in June, but some teams will have the same runner doing multiple legs. Unfortunately all I can find is club news, information and contacts, but no official web page. wahhhhhhh

Well if you are considering a team? Might be possible?

[Ideally more than two people though!]

I'd dearly love to do it... unfortunately it's not possible this year. I grew up in Brighton, and now live in the US. I usually visit England twice a year, in fact next week!

Maybe 2006 though to do the run... :)

I'm doing Trailwalkeer in a few weeks time, hoping to do the 100km in 18 hours, so running about half of it I think should just about do it, goodness knows how some of the Gurkhas do it in 10-12 hours, there are a lot of big hills in the way! It's also a fairly unforgiving surface for lotys of it, lots of golf ball size flint stones!

Good luck anyone thinking of this  race!

Ok now. Really tempted. Will see how two 50+ milers go this year before I think about enetering. Also right about the same time Berlin marathon would be happening which I fancy doing again
