I'm signed up for this, too - first ultra! Out of interest, in the CP Info it says "after 1500 runners must be paired". Does this mean you literally have to run in lockstep with someone else after 1500? Bit inconvenient if you can't find someone going at your pace, surely....

This event has a pretty big field, and there will almost certainly be two or three people with you at any given time.

Does anyone know how strict they are about the pairing? I reckon that I probably won't make the cut-off time for pairing at the last CP. But I tend to prefer running races very much at my own pace (especially the second half as I try to run negative splits). Not sure how it will pan out for a whole 50-miler, but I'd hate to feel I was slowing someone else down (or vice versa). I can see the point of pairing once it gets dark, but it should be ok until around 4pm.

This year my recorded time at the last checkpoint was 4:15pm - I was not asked to pair up.

That's encouraging. Hopefully they won't feel the need to be stricter with us girlies!

Sold out today (except for charity places). Glad I got my entry in now. Picked up a niggle in my left knee last week, it stiffened up at the end of a 2 hour run. Seems OK with some easy jogging though which is just as well, I've got Luton Marathon next weekend. I can't decide at the moment whether to go for a sub-3:15 GFA London time or treat it as a long run rehearsal. I guess it'll rather depend on the weather on the day, as much as anything.
