thanks for all the messages folks - much appreciated.........

I could have come "out" a lot earlier but decided to wait until I got my target out of the way and just kept a few people in my confidence............

I decided not to tell my Mum of my problem until all the treatment was out of the way as I knew she would not understand fully, and just worry - which at 82, you really don't need.........she died without knowing and I am at peace with myself that she went that way.........sad but happy as well

I have another reason for posting about what happened to me

there's a thread in Training called Run 200 Miles for 200 Minutes

200 minutes aka Dave Maunder has also recently gone through what I have gone through but much worse - his carcinoma had affected his tonsil and throat (mine were suspected but luckily they were clean although I also had a tonsillectomy) - so he has undergone much more suffering and pain and is currently feeding through a stomach tube as he cannot swallow.........

the thread is basically getting people to run 200 miles for 200 minutes and raise funds for Cancer Research so I'd like to get the Pirates to contribute in some way and do their bit to help kick cancer

so if you feel you want to help support 200 minutes, please go over to Training and give as much help as you can............

I shall go and add my support, good to hear your recovery has gone well which makes your performance at Vitruvian so much more of an achievement.

Well done, your an inspiration.

FB, you're a star! Well done at Vitruvian, that's a fab achievement considering the year you've had.

I shall get off my @rse now and go run a few miles for you and Dave.

Well done FB and well handled. Very brave move.

I'm slowly, doing my 200 miles for 200 mins. I'll do the rest for you too. Are you supporting Cancer Research too or do you have a different charity?

FB, I had no idea. You are a brave soul. I've already done my 200 miles for 200 minutes and am doing it again. See you at Beachy Head? xxxxx

Good one, FB... Although I'm not a Pirate, I'm still gonna do it!

I had no idea either, FB.

Already doing the 200 miles, but they will have a little added oomph now, running for two of you.

FB - I'd been following 200 minutes' story because of the daily training thread, but haven't got round to posting my pathetic miles yet. I'll do it now.

incidentally, if anybody wants to raise money for cancer research more passively, then

i'm doing 421.8 miles though, as 200 is a bit too poncey.
