Yeh FR, I tend to forget about the bad purchases and rave about the good ones if asked, glass half full and all that

Glass will be brimming over for the Hardmoors 26.2 this Sunday, will be a nice combo of moorland paths, improved trail and plenty of good ascending and descending to be had.

Glad you had  a good day brer tis nice round there with some excellent running to boot, I am still dithering over the Hardmoors 55.

I had a nice day out, thank`s to Keswick AC for putting on the Keswick Buttermere round, at the moment I feel that my interest in hilly road races may have been re-kindled

This is looking interesting will have to check the Diary.

Hi all.

Nice to meet you Brer, I felt that more than lived up to expectations, undulating first half and hilly second for a real good challenge. Weather was defeinately favourable for time of year and just the odd bit of snow drift and mud for fun, so mostly very runnable and shows by the winners time well under 4 hours!

I had a nice easy run out, not sure what to expect as not run close to this distance or over 20 since 1st Dec. Tickover stuff must have been ok though as still plenty in legs at end (I ran back to carpark after), ready to run the next one harder. And as its called Wainstones you just know it will include the last climb before turnaround (@ 16m or so of yesterdays route) and some of the other hills around there and will be equally challenging (I particularly enjoyed the two climbs, second being Wainstones betweem, mile 13-16 - have missed the hill train of late).

Very remotivated now, Hardmoors 55 entry likely in soon, fellsman already in (was worried might book up). Just a case of when to do the long runs, I can see myslef adopting the very early start on saturday practice that others on here do - will be fun starting in dark for a few runs

Cheers

Glad you had a good run out on the osmo mara EUPH are you not tempted to do the Hardmoors 110 ? yet.

I still have not decided on  the Hardmoors 55, I still feel it would spoil the 110 for me if I have already covered 55 mile of it as I like the challenge of doing new events sight unseen, plus my main early season goal is the Lakeland 100 and I some how fell long days out on the Lakeland Fells will be far more benificial.

So maybe a Self supported BGR and a Joss Naylor could be on the cards decision decisions.

oh yea since sundays roadrace I have had a couple of outings on the fells and can definitely say my interest in road racing has not been re-kindled.

lots to go at then fr

for me the future lies in mixing it up but i must say im enjoying running (in training) short distances than i was plodding longer ones..it makes me feel more exhuburent and youthful than simply grinding out mile after slow mile..and importantly its giving me all the time i want to get the balance to do everything else in my life . if i actually do any of the longer stuff this year then that will be it for me, and i'll be running with a smile on my face and the wind in my hair ..up fell...down road..along valley ..wherever and whatever takes my fancy at that very moment

Sounds like you have it sussed I have always been a believer in doing whatever takes your fancy nad grabing the moment, maybe that is why I have never felt anything other than youthfull.

By the way if you have really found the secret to finding the time to do all the things in life that you want to will you share it with me please cause I really struggle to fit everything in..

Glad you had fun fr
It's a route that's doable without an event ( or having to talk to people)

Yep in a nutshell CD

In fact I spent most of it on my todd but with the advantage of being fed and watered at checkpoints I will certainly do it again solo/unsupported a real gem that lends itself to public transport to and from home.

Sounds a nice one FR, spoilt for choice this weekend as was also the excellent Trollers Trot yesterday. I didn't do, but have fond memories of one of the first LDWA challenges I did on a beautiful Yorkshire Dales course, will have to do that one again next year.

Young Isaac is over 9 weeks old now and feeding well, alert and kicking his legs like a goodun He's a real joy and I just want to spend all of my time with him and Clare. But I'm still getting some miles in, sometimes by stealth as a commute to work (suprisingly enjoyable variety of scenery on the way). Got up early for an enjoyable jaunt arount the Wolds for 3hr, OAB loop with a few extra hills on way out (one maxed out at over 80% gradient - glad the ground was dry - most more ike 15-30%). A frosty start, but the sun was out and lots of walkers, mountain bikers (trail terrorists? land owners seem to think so with number of logs pulled across paths), even an organised orientering event was out in force as I finished off my miles for the morning.

Even a dickie tummy at the start (hole digging, leaves and moss looked to be the order of the day) didn't prematurely end my enjoyment and felt much better by the last hour and picked up the pace nicely. All bodes well for HM55 in a few weeks

Hey EUPH sounds like young Isaac is learnining the art of warming up  TBH i reckon the hardest trick for an ultra runner is finding the correct balance between training and family unless of course you are a family of Ultra runners , sounds like you had a good outing at the weekend as well.

Have you been mixing in high society and contacted a RIGHT ROYAL STOMACH BUG

I am still undecided about HM 55 as I am having a great time running in the hills at the moment and trails are not raelly drawing me at the moment but who knows ?

Just entered scafell pike marathon . Should be good

Re balance , I have so many things I'm enjoying these days that runs will be taking on a shorter variety .. Best of all worlds for me it is
