just discovered a marathon long distance walk in my area on 23 September, could use that for training.

ed. can you tell me their names? I know there is a West Highland Way Race, which I haven't the experience or desire to do. There was a Speyside Way 50k but not this year don't know if its going to be back next year. There is another 50k race in Fife but you have to have a sub 4 hour marathon to do it. Any more?

ah that's good.. sub 4hr qualifying. My 2 marathons have been 4:40 and 6:30 so I don't have to go to Fife now ;-)

there's a triple crown:

"The Highland Fling" - Milngavie to Tyndrum - April 28th 2007
"The West Highland Way Race" - Milngavie to Fort William - June 24th
"The Devil O' The Highlands" - Tyndrum to Fort William - August 5th Cancelled for 2006, hopes to run in 2007

50K in fife WHEN ????

Ooooh - Tyndrum to Fort William? So that'd be over Rannoch Moor and through Glen Coe? With a warm bed and fry-up at the end.

Hmmmmm. (strokes chin in an 'interested' manner)

43 miles. "You have 12 hours to finish the race and there are manned checkpoints throughout that you must reach."

Sounds rather similar to another event.

Could I do two in two months? Hmmmm.

Cheers Gobi - suppose I should put those intervals back into the training sessions.

I guess many of you know this already, but a great source of ultra racr info is the Trail Runners Association race listing which has listings of 100s of events through out the year. Most are off road and ultra-distance. Membership is only a tenner a year and for those not in clubs it counts as UKA affiliation and so saves you £2 per race.

Gobi Fife AC 50km Road race was held on May 14th this year. I know nothing about it but Katypie wanted to do it but didn't have the required sub 4 hour time and they are fairly strict about it I think. I don't know if there is a website or not.

Ed they look like very nice races to do but also a bit tough for maybe my first ultra and I do like road races.
