Loula..you could also but some pink tassels on the end of the handle bars .on a serious note just had an excellent run, around part of the Dukeries Ultra route, set of at  a steady 8.40 pace, got to 4 mile and was feeling good and got carried away, and ended up doing 16 miles in just over 2 hours, with full hydration pack, managed 12 mile at sub 7.40.Not bad as i did a tempo run and a hard bike ride yesterday, and havent done any speed work for months.

I've got a fair few in and am eyeing up some others at the moment.  Main 'challenging' events are Quadzilla (four marathons in four days) and London2Brighton.  Still thinking about doing The Wall.  How about you?

I'm kind of planned up till June my debit card won't stretch further than that at the moment! Must stop eyeing up shoes too (and back packs, head torches, jackets ...)

Haha yes I splashed out and ordered the salomon s-lab 12 in the end, it's a bit heavier than the others but I'd seen pictures of them on small looking women so thought it was worth a try! Also ordered an alpkit gamma as everyone keeps recommending them, and some merrell mix master shoes after reading a good review! Lots of post for me next week

Hi all!
I'm considering a leap to longer distance running. I've done ironman France and 2 other marathons including trail marathon Wales. But I fancy a bit more...
So I'm looking at a couple of options. Do I go for long ish over several days, or just really long over 1 day. So I'm thinking 1) the jarassic coast challenge 3x26.2m over 3 days or 2) the lakeland 50. I was quite tempted by the Ring 'o fire (but am afraid
of the distance.
Have any of you guys done these? And therefore have any views on the races?
Do you train the same way for both the two types of race?
Is there something else worth considering? I'm just after a new challenge, rather than to qualify for anything )(but do quite fancy the U.T.M.B at some stage)

muddy: You're too late to enter Lakeland 50 for next year, although you could go on the waiting list and see how many places come free due to injury. North Downs Way 50 was good - quite scenic, trail (and lots of up & down, but not as much as Lakeland). I'm sure others will be able to give lots more suggestions.

I've half-planned stuff but several races require entry/ballot in Nov and Dec so can't say for sure but pretty certain of XC relay champs, Nov;  Lossiemouth Turkey Trot 10 (December), Nairn Turkey 5km (26 Dec) Dee 33 (March), Highland Fling (April), West Highland Way Race (June, depending on Nov entry) and fingers and toes crossed UTMB end of Aug. If I don't get into UTMB then a group from my running club are planning to do the Jungfrau Marathon ... aside from that, wouldn't mind doing Highlander Mountain Marathon in April if I can find a suitable mug to join me, and any local shorter races I can possibly manage to fit in with logistics.
