Dukeries Dusk into Dark...10/20 mile trail race.Having been suffering with a bad hip for the last week.I hoped out of doing The Round Rotherham 50,and decided to cycle the 10 miles to the start of the DDD,run the 10mile course and cycle home.Having been out with Mrs DT,I was late setting off .Having to time trial my way there,i arrived with 10 Min's to get changed.,and missed the race briefing. This wasn't a concern as i have run the route several times. The pace was fast from the start with both 10 and 20 mile races setting off together,The route was a good mix of woodland trail, grass, farm tracks and a bit of road, with a few small undulations. The conditions were wet and muddy. At the end of the first farm track i was in 5 place,by the end of the first mile i was in 2 place, and the pace wasn't slowing up.by 3 mile i was on my own with the leader about 2 min up the road. At 5 mile I was still working hard and still on my own,.At seven miles, there was a long down hill section of farm track, which made my hip ache, but when back on to the trail i was fine. The last couple of miles were done at a good clip, even easing up over the last half mile.and crossing the line in 1 hr 12 Min's, and  FIRST PLACE ..With the lad in front winning the 20 miler

DT - Bit of an adventure dude! Very well done

Managed a win at Caesars camp! Pace at the front was very fast and the other 2 of the top 3 dropped at 20 so it was a pretty lonely race. Very muddy and good fun if a touch painful after the first 20!

Good luck everyone at Abingdon!

DT - brilliant result mate well done sir

WIB - already knew your result, well done you, and modest as ever, so I'll point out you set a new event/course record by 28 mins!! Your prize isn't quite as impressive as last time though lol!! You really are running well now...

DT - Hope there was an extra fanfare / prize for the 'home boy' winning! Well done pal, awesome.

WIB - What is left to say, you are frickin awesome, well done buddy.

WiB, DT, well done! Great running.

Short distances for me this weekend. Cross-country yesterday, four miles (Garmin 3.94), very muddy; finished in 29.35 so not great, but no disgrace. Today, Croydon 10K, finished in 45.30, 120th overall (out of 600-ish), 7th or 8th woman (8th I think - can't remember, and the official results are not up yet) and first v40F - so I got a bottle of wine!

Gettig better at pushing on the uphill sections, which is good, and still gaining some places on the downhills, both cross-country and road.

Next Saturday: Beach Head!

Just about the only way I could get MRS S into running 2 miles that, "Dearest I hear Salvatore Ferrgamo have a  sale on ......" Still way too frickin dangerous.

Alistair , i have to fight the urge to go to the Designer outlet near me every day-i work half a mile from it and i can see it from my little office window..oh i pine somedays, clawing at the window to be let out to go and look at the beautiful shoes and look in Versace and  purchase  a jumper or 2 out of RLauren..its a pitiful sight.
