Can't use link, bold etc facility

..when posting a message

In the last month or so I seem to have lost the ability to post links in my messages. When I highlight text then click 'link' absolutely nothing happens - except a small message at the bottom of my computer screen which says 'error on page'. The same thing happens when I try to use 'bold' or any of the other facilities.

I have tried both IE and Firefox and the result is the same.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Yeah, me too - it's a javascript error - I'm on Firefox (Windows XP, not that that has any relevance).

Error: self.document.forms.threadReply is undefined
Source File: javascript: void insertTag(self.document.forms['threadReply'].message,'url',true);
Line: 1

There's still a lot of incompatibilities in Javascript from browser to browser, and without wanting to debug it, I assume this is one (and not a problem with your settings).

Many thanks Swerve, if the remedy is elusive perhaps someone could remind me of the old formula which would still enable me to post links?

Yup i have same problem

but ..

if you go back and use "edit message" straight afterwards, then the links and bold etc all work fine

weird eh?!

as requested - reminder re how to do it by hand

NOTE: replace my round brackets below with square brackets in actual postings - for obvious reasons i can't post actual square brackets in explanation as won't show up..

underline
(u) thing to underline (/u)

italic
same but use i instead of u

bold
same but use b instead of u
