"send to friend" - aargh!

Not a bug, just an annoyance

Right, I know I'm a moaning git who should get some perspective, but the new "send to friend" thing below each thread title means I now have to scroll down to see the bottom few titles.

Not a problem on the threads themselves, cos you need to scroll anyway, but pointlessly irritating otherwise. By the way, does anybody EVER "send to friend"? If so, why?

Otherwise, lots of hugs all round. :-)

Go to agree - visually it's very distracting, and seems pretty useless.

Please can you get rid of it?

Hey, this is a real pain. Having to scroll down every page to see all 10 threads is a real pain in the a*se.

Please remove it asap.

Surely you'd only send to a friend after you'd read the content of a message - so why not leave it under the message detail and take it out of each thread title.

By the way Swerve - I did send to a friend once - ME (to send a posting which had a useful URL on stretching to a computer at my other house). Pretty sad really.

However, I can't think that this facility would get any more than very occasional use.

well - I wasn't going to say anything, but...

it is kinda irritating.

a bit.

Yuk!

Would it be possible to have an option in our personal setting so we can switch it off?

Ta.

Sean and co - what's happening with this? Will we get it taken away again (yes please) or made an option?

hmmm.....

boing

It really is quite annoying...

Ho hum.

Is there really no-one available to spend 20 seconds replying?

Perhaps the chaps at RW think we'll go away if they keep quiet for long enough.

Thanks for the posts guys. We will be looking into it in the next few days.

What you think is important to us.

Cheers

I tried sending the results of an events search to a friend and it doesn't do anything. But I can send a forum page to a friend. Am I expecting it to do something it won't?
31/10/2003 at 12:39
So, Daniel, how long have you had these delusions that you work for RW? ;-)

Since Rob instantly Cazzed that nasty racist chap yesterday, all tardiness on this one is forgiven. So, in your own time, RW peeps.
31/10/2003 at 19:15
Daniel is the only one who actually does any work at RW!
14/11/2003 at 11:09
So RW - any progress with the "send to a friend" feature?

No, it hasn't got any less annoying.

Nor has the lack of a single informative answer in nearly two months.
27/11/2003 at 14:34
Oh sorry Swerve.

It's staying for the time being as there are hidden adminstrator level buttons that occupy that line so there would still be a white space there if we removed the 'send to a friend' button which incidently we use quite a lot as well.
27/11/2003 at 15:15
Ooh, I'm a bit grumpy at 8:36am, aren't I? I now feel suitably sheepish.

Cheers, Artgod, that makes a lot of sense. The obvious solution, with no obvious drawbacks that I can see, is to give us all some administrator buttons to play with........

Ta lots for the reply.
