I would like to thank RW for a fantastic night of sex. The Ann Summers sale was much more interesting than new socks from Adidas

Goldbeetle - you're just not using your imagination...

Good point DTS - it's getting worse - there are links all over the place now. Any
progress, RW?

I see RW still haven't done anything about this.

I take it that means they are getting something out of it?

I'd love to find out which companies are paying for this advertising
29/01/2013 at 15:33

it's weird, cos if you view the page source html there's no link there - which means the link isn't being planted when you submit your message - it's being "overlaid" somehow in some sort of post-processing of the page, very like how some malicious adware works...

DazTheSlug - it's some Javascript that modifies the DOM after the page has loaded.  LIke all things, there are valid and milicious ways for using technology.  We do post-load DOM updates with our application all the time.  However, we use it to give our users a better experience, using it for things like round-tripping to the DB to update content without reloading the page.

Thanks for that Intermanaut
maybe RW think they're doing us a favour then?!

I think it's known as "in-text advertising", but the links normally have double-underlines so that you know it's an advertising link
leaving the link looking like the original poster put it in is a bit underhand if you ask me

Ok its working well today LOL

Hi Annie

Adidas doesn't seem to be working (linking) today but Ann Summers is

the "overlay" happens after ad1.emediate.dk stick their 2-pen'orth in

surely it couldn't be that they are making click-through revenue off the back of any legitimate service(s) they're providing to RW?
