Gear pick: Goody Good Stuff

There are hundreds of sports energy gels, chews and beans on the market, all very different in taste, texture and effect and it's a matter of trial and error in finding one that suits you. The choice can be a little overwhelming - I’ve tried and tested almost every brand on the market with mixed results, but found that on my long gruelling training runs, a chewable and tasty energy snack is the best bet to keep my mind happy and legs moving.

If energy gels don't agree or you prefer to nibble along the way, the Goody Good Stuff range offers simple carbs without some of the bad stuff. All sweets are free from artificial colours or preservatives and are free from fat, dairy, gluten and gelatin. One serving of 7-12 sweets (depending on the variety) offers around 100 calories of simple carbohydrates and is ideal to fuel an endurance race - and provide a tasty distraction from the miles ahead.

They come in eight different flavours, from strawberry cream to sour mix. Take a look at the range for more info.
