Review: Bose SIE2i sport headphones

Bose SEI2i Sport headphones

As a regular punter, you’re never at a loss for headphone options, as a runner however finding the right headphones can become a real chore yet these Bose SIE2i sport headphones should certainly make it on to your shortlist.

The major defect with most headphones especially when running is the fit; you want something that is light and stable in the ear, that doesn’t shift about or fall out when running and maintains a consistent clarity of output as your workout progresses.

In regards to the musical quality, Bose are one of the leading manufactures of headphones and they’ve put their expertise to good use with the SIE2i, delivering a solid sounding headphone that covers all soundscapes. The ear bud tip features enough of a directional funnel to make sure that your music is delivered directly into the ear without feeling invasive and the ported back of the bud maximises on the movement of the speaker driver to help replicate those all important lows that give music it’s depth. The only downside of this ported design is that at higher volumes your music can be heard by those around you, which isn’t a problem in the gym or out running, but not ideal on a quiet bus.

And so to the fit and what makes these headphones a success is the rubber housing that sits in the ear. The rubber grips nicely to your ear’s external auditory meatus (ear hole) and the key to its fit comes from the rubber extension, what Bose call their StayHear ear tips, that nestle into the folds of concha, securing the headphone in place. The tips come with three various sizes to suit all ear shapes, including my large ears!

The additional features such as being water/sweat resistant, having an inline remote/microphone so you can control you music and phone calls whilst on the go and the Reebok fitness armband that comes with the headphones all make this package a tough one to ignore.
