ASICS Half-Marathon Competition: Terms and Conditions



  1. This promotion is open to UK mainland residents only*, who are 18 or above.  Entry is not open to employees of ASICS UK Ltd, ASICS Corp., Hearst Rodale, their subsidiaries or anyone professionally connected with this promotion or their immediate families.
  2. The closing date for entries is 21:00 on July 10 2012.
  3. To enter log onto www.runnersworld.co.uk (the "Website"), fill in a structured questionnaire and upload a photo of yourself. If you are selected, you will be contacted by email shortly after the closing date. Winners will be selected by the Runner's World and ASICS team, coaches and the ASICS PRO Team.
  4. To be eligible to win one of the five prizes you must agree to report on your My ASICS experience for the three months leading up to and including the 2012 Bupa Great North Run. Extracts from these reports may be included on the Runner's World website and in the sites Half-Marathon newsletter.
  5. To be eligible to win one of the five prizes you must already own and use an iPhone.
  6. To be eligible to win one of the five prizes you must already have a place in the Bupa Great North Run.
  7. Travel and accomodation for the Great North Run are not included in this prize.
  8. All photographs must have been taken by you and you must have obtained the permission of all persons in the photographs for their image to be published.
  9. By submitting any information onto the Website (including photographs), you agree to grant the promoters (ASICS UK Ltd) and Hearst Rodale royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish the information (including photographs) in any form of media in perpetuity.  This means the promoters can reproduce the information (including photographs) however and wherever they want, but it also means that you can as well.  You will still own the copyright to everything you contribute. Where the promoters choose to use any of the information (including the photographs), they will credit the copyright to you.
  10. By entering this Promotion, each winner consents to any publicity generated as a result of this Promotion, and their name or image being used on websites, magazines or mobile services at any time.
  11. The winners will be selected by a panel of judges at their discretion. The judges' decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  12. All winners must sign an agreement regarding expectations and conduct during the project, along with Runner's World, ASICS and the coaches.
  13. There are 5 (five) prizes to be won. Each prize comprises of; £200 of ASICS running kit including one pair of ASICS running shoes; a VIP Bupa Great North Run finish line package.
  14. No cash or alternative will be offered for the prize in whole or part. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize of the same or greater value.
  15. If selected as a member of the Half-Marathon team the runners will agree to use the My ASICS tool as part of their training. This will include (but may not be limited to) screengrabbing their training log reports.
  16. Entries in the incorrect format will not be considered. Entries cannot be returned. Only the winner/s will be contacted personally.
  17. Names of the winners available by sending a SAE to: ASICS UK Ltd, Westbrook, Warrington WA5 7YS.
  18. The promoter accepts no responsibility for late or lost entries.  Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.
  19. Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by them. The promoter shall be permitted to exclude any entrant at any time at its sole discretion.
  20. Where Hearst Rodale runs a competition with a promoter such that the promoter is responsible for the selection and/or the provision of prizes then Hearst Rodale shall not be responsible for or have any liability for the provision of such prizes.
  21. The promoter is ASICS UK Ltd, Westbrook, Warrington WA5 &YS.
  22. Liability - To the extent permitted by the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977, neither Runner's World nor its sponsors or suppliers will be liable for any loss, damage, illness or injury whatsoever directly or indirectly occasioned by or resulting from the negligence, wrongful act or default of the "Bupa Great North Run", its sponsors and suppliers or their respective servants or agents or from any other cause, including any act of God or the physical condition of the competitor.

* UK mainland is defined as including Scotland and Wales but excluding all areas listed in our definition of non UK mainland below. Non UK Mainland is defined as Northern Ireland, Isle of Man (IM), Channel Islands (GY and JE), Scilly Isles (TR21), Western Scottish Isles (HS1-8), Orkney Isles (KW 15-17), Shetland Isles (ZE) and postcodes KW1-3, KW5-14 and PH31-44.
