Weltklasse meet, Zurich (1995)

At the Weltklasse meet in Zurich, Gebrselassie set a new 5,000m world record of 12:44:39, smashing the existing record set two-years earlier by Moses Kiptanui by a staggering 11 seconds.

Amazing, I grew up watching this great man and he was a great influence on me getting in to running and then triathlons.

 Great to see him get the massive respect he deserves, could have delved deeper back to his humble beginnings and what he does for his country and running in general, but what a brilliant man. If he retires, then they should erect monuments in his name.
