Best Gadget: Garmin 610

The Forerunner series has set the standard since the first model launched way back in 2003, but in an ever more competitive category, Garmin couldn’t afford to stand still. And it hasn’t.  Your votes recognise the   610 – which also scooped our Editor’s Choice in the January issue – as another great leap forward. Crammed with features, but even more user-friendly with its intuitive out-of-the-box functionality, this is a pretty much flawless offering that has left you wearing your hearts firmly on your wrists.

I'm interested to discover that you love iMapMyRun just as I'm struggling with it! Unfortunately, it will only record 1-mile splits, no matter how you adjust it. Their customer service function is somewhat lacking - not a peep out of them so far.

I think RunKeeper is actually a better app!

Well done to the Richmond Park Marthon, winners of the Best New Race Award in the Runner's World Personal Best Wards 2012. Apparently it was a great race and a deserving winner. Super congratulations!

Richmond just pipped the Trionium Bath Hilly Half that I organised  (94% overall, vs 93%) for best new race - some of my runners went the wrong way at one point, underlining the importance of marshals and of briefing them right!
