Hey guys,
Your web team have had another busy week and we can now reveal a new forum message form. After rounds of testing (thanks for all your help and feedback) we're now ready to set the features live.
Thanks Daniel
FAQs SectionCan I turn images and smilies off?
Yes. We appreciate that not everyone wants their bandwidth and forums cluttered up with images. If you don't want to see the nasty images, just choose 'render as link' and you'll just see a link, same with the 'forum smilies' which will appear as text. While if you want to use the previous forum editing tools choose 'Basic Editor'.
Is the image uploader permanent?
That’s really up to you guys. We hope it becomes useful and isn’t a feature that becomes abused. Fingers crossed it stays.
Can you post an image and text on the same post?
Yes. Just write your text, add the image, then type the rest of the message
Which images can I include?
1 They have to be on external websites and not your desktop
2 Some external sites or web hosts may not allow their images to be imbedded into pages on other sites. We’re finding examples as we go along but one would be Blogger
3 This is a busy forum and if your image is hosted somewhere that has a bandwidth limit, it's possible that posting an image here could cause your limit to be exceeded because of the number of times it will be viewed.
4 If you need somewhere to store your images online, popular free choices include Flickr and Photobucket
My image isn’t uploading?
So far the most common mistake has been because you may have been uploading web pages* instead of images. Don’t worry, it’s an easy mistake to make (I’m holding my hand up here too) but here are useful guidelines
This link isn’t an image (it ends with htm and is therefore a web page):
http://www.richk.co.uk/SodSlog06/SodSlog0650.htm
This link is an image (it ends with jpg (images can also end with gif, png))
http://www.richk.co.uk/SodSlog06/Before/DSC02137.jpg
* To get the url of the image itself, open the web page, then right click the image and (depending on your browser) choose 'copy image location' or 'properties' and copy the url of the image.
Why don’t the forum buttons always appear?
A few of you have mentioned this. Please remember that you have to click on the link below in order to use them.

I’ve clicked on that link but the buttons still don’t appear. What’s going on?
Firstly, please check that you have Javascript turned on.
If that doesn’t work then chances are you’re a Mac user and use Safari. Sorry, but there’s little we can do about this. We’d kindly suggest that you try using Firefox or Opera – the new features work perfectly well in those browsers. Still no luck? Then please drop us a line and we’ll get back to you. - Thanks again
