In short: Poorly organised led to runners collapsing from hypothermia In full: The things that were right first: Great support from the locals, enthusiastic marshalls and plentiful water and feed stations. The weather couldn't be helped, and the footpath that turned into a river was not the organisers fault. However, the organisation at the finish was negligent... if the organisers escape without being sued. Thousands of runners left searching for their posssesions, with no one in the tent. It was a disgrace and people were developing hypothermia, and i mean this literally... several ended in the medical tent. I queued outside the tent for 30 mins, and once inside searched for another 20 for my bag. But it was nowhere to be seen. I got so cold standing still I decided to head to the car and go home without it. Thankfully I had a pair of old jeans in the car. The organisers should be ashamed of themselves as they put people lives at risk with that poor organisation. Date of review: April 30, 2012
In short: Hot, Hot, Hot In full: The plus points have to be the organisation, which was faultless... the race ran like clockwork. Good medal and t shirt at the end too.
Negative points: The lack of water in the heat. If this was normal weather there would have been no problems but the hot forecast was predicted for days. It would have been better to get some energy drink on the course as too many people were struggling with cramp, dehydration etc. I passed so many people collapsed at the side of the road and this could have been avoided. That said, I have never ran a race in such heat in march so it isn't normal Date of review: March 26, 2012
In short: Excellent local race In full: This is a brilliant event for runners of all abilities, and the race is very friendly. This is a race organised by runners for runners. Excellent marshals, and the BBQ and bar after was very nice too. Will be back!! Date of review: May 16, 2010
In short: Good but could be made to run smoother In full: Route was more boring than it could have been, it's more of a tour of suburbia than trails. Organisation pretty poor, no details in post, map book was a fiddly poster that was not good for use on the go, and the expo was stupid, and there was nothing there. Anyone from outside of London was basically forced to come down on the friday which added to the high cost. Nice Technical T shirt though. Date of review: February 14, 2010
In short: This was my first ultra, and it was great In full: The weather was horrendous at the start, but after an hour or so the rain started to ease off, and eventually the sun came out. The terrain was pretty tough, very muddy in places, and some tough hills. But great value, really well organised, and nice T and medal at the finish. Well done Steve and all his helpers, this was great. Date of review: June 7, 2009
In short: Very lucky with the weather... In full: An excellent, well organised event. The marshalls were excellent. The race had a nice BBQ and bar afterwards and it was nice to mix with other runners. DEfinately recommend this to anyone, will be back next year Date of review: May 17, 2009
In short: Poorly organised start and finish, too crowded on a narrow course In full: There was no organisation at the start, runners and non-runners were just stood in a giant crowd making it impossible to get into a decent stride especially as the course was so narrow. Runners at the back of the field faced long queues, and couldn't even run across the finish line as the queue was back onto the course. Ridiculous! Good charity, but they need to change the course to make it better for runners. Date of review: May 21, 2006
