In short: Pre-Festive Frolic
In full: I always enjoy this pre-festive frolic! All that was missing was the snow! .. shame it was not the weekend coming as the snow surely is!!! ... back to the race ... as usual it was all that it has lived up to over the years ... undulating and challenging. I am sure that hill is getting longer or am I just getting older!. The splendour of this eace far outweighs last years mug.

In short: Slick no fuss event professionally organised
In full: Slick no fuss event professionally organised. Varied and interesting course. Probably the best route to date. One wonders would might have happened had the snow stayed a little longer?. Runners not having experienced this race before would do well to include it in next year's race schedule.

In short: Interesting and varied course with promise for the future....
In full: Interesting and varied race that was testing in part and visually inspiring. A good venue that coped well with the influx of 500 + runners. Multi-terrain course that was challenging in part and thought provoking over some diffcult surfaces that could easily have taken its toll on ankle ligaments!! All in all a promising first time out for this race that will only grow in stature in future years and become a 'must do' on the summer mid-week circuit ....

In short: A memorable winter run ...
In full: A very varied race taking in road, track and towpath offering a multitude of fairly flat surfaces including mud and puddles which made this race all the more interesting. No real negatives that were within race organiser's control. Enjoyed the change of course from the previous years and suggest this course is maintained in the future. Well done 2:09

In short: High on PR but low on organisation
In full: A race that prompted thousands of runners to not litter the streets with drink cups but place them in the bins provided questions the organisers understanding of what road running is all about ... an event that was high on PR but low on organisation ... didn't see any mile markers until the 6th mile or were they badly placed? ... Run to the Beat .. what beat ? I only saw three or four bands actually playing ... the rest were sound systems? .... sorry but not impressed

In short: Testing time in the forest ....
In full: Most enjoyable but testing time in the forest. Well organised first time event with good attention to detail for a race carved out of the forest! ... Beautiful scenic setting and a chance to get away from the traffic! ... a few hills got in the way of a fast time but appart from that a nice outing for a relatively small field. I'm sure the field will be bigger next year as word gets around!

In short: Run it with my eyes closed ....
In full: As usual a well organised established event. So when are you going to vary it a bit? Ive run it so many times now I could run it with my eyes closed. A new course would bring a breath of fresh air to this event. Nevertheless this series remains a firm favourite on the local race calendar

In short: Where next Mike ... Hampton Court Maze?
In full: Not one of 2.09 better races. Boring repetitive course with no kilometre markers, very little atmosphere and too expensive for what was presented. Will not feature on my next years race calendar unless improvements are forthcoming.

In short: Interesting and varied course ....
In full: Enjoyable outing in the January sunshine but can't help thinking one of these years the weather is going to be bad and potentially this course could turn hideous and dangerous! especially along winding hilly roads without pavements! .. having said that this year was trouble free except for the road sweeping lorry with yellow light flashing which I mistook for the lead vehicle!!!! ... great varied scenery and slick organisation ... could do with a better standard of graphic for race map ...

In short: Christmas present of a race!!!
In full: Always a pleasing and enjoyable event. Like getting an early Christmas present! ... weather looked ominous but stayed away long enough to get the race over and done with. As always a challenging and testing course with the reward of spectacular views from the top!!! ... roll on the 49th running and hopefully something more spectacular for the 50th!!! ... Well done to the organisers and a special thank you to the marshals that braved the elements on our behalf
