In short: Fantastic race
In full: This was my first Greensand Marathon. I'm a relative trail running novice despite my previous 8 marathons, but this puts other marathons to shame. Superbly organised, loved the litte touches like the name on the number, free tea & coffee, swimming, Olympic torch, breakfast afterwards and excellent facilities. Friendly atmosphere, marshalls few and far between understandly for a course like this, however, the course was well marked out except for a few places, this was only noticeable because how well it was marked in other areas. I was a little concerned at the time but there was no need, just keep running!! Marshalls always so encouraging and friendly, much appreciated. Course was very challenging but flew by due to the scenic route and more importnat things to concentrate on plus great momentos at the finish, this is a must for serious marathoners and those seeking a challenge. This has encouraged me to do more trail runs, in prep for next year. well done Dr Rob, see you then

In short: Poor organisation
In full: 2nd race in a week run by the same people and both times i weren't 100% on the route before starting and even during the race, some people did goth e wrong way...."just follow the bike!!" round a field a few times and through the forest, twice, the latter was ok for a trial run. T-shirts were for Raynes park 10k, medals are of poor quality. Directions on the website would be nice I was looking for Richardson evans sports ground would have been easier to say harlequins league ground or anything on the website, esp as I didn't know the area. Water, energy bar and free massage, allbeit brief were nice touch but definitely needs improvement on the organisation front.

In short: Best Race for a long while
In full: This race had everything for me. Organisation was superb from the car parking, band at the beginning, collecting my number, the stalls out back, the route which was challenging but fun, the good work of the marshalls and support of the local community and runners friends & family, the medal, the goody bag and Dame Kelly thrown in for good measure. I was feeling fit and ready for this race and nothing on the day disturbed this which is detriment to the organisers, especially as it was the inaugral half. I even managed to get a tan on the way round :-)
Being a little harsh there could be a few minor improvements as already mentioned, some were harsh, they can't run the race for you but a fantastic race and day out. Well done to everyone involved. I am looking forward to next year already. this is destined to become a bigger event and I am pround to have competed in the first one.

In short: Challenging yet fun
In full: First time Ashtead 10k for me and even though i used it as a training run it was great to do part of my training offroad. Course was tricky with a variety of underfoot conditions but that made it all the more fun. A very scenic route with friendly competitors too. I will definitely run this one again. Very well organised, good support and marshall were super friendly and encouraging. Coasters made a nice change, although I do like a medal, t-shirt was fab with all entrants names on the back and a good addition to my running gear, and loads of goodies at the finish line. Makes it all worth doing, roll on next year :-)

In short: disappointing
In full: I thought I had a pb until i read the reviews, I thought that a little strange, still another 9.? km in the bank. It was poorly organised, luckily there weren't many people to confuse. The warm up, if you can call it that should have been an indication, then the announcer not being able to work out 1100 metres, was 2 3/4 laps rather than the 3 3/4 he stated. And I am still unable to access the results online. Happy I done a run saturday, medal is always nice, however, I will put this down to experience.

In short: Challenging but fun
In full: This is one if not the best organised run I have been to, despite chip issue. An interesting, challenging and picturesque course, nice distnace. One minor gripe prob could have done with a water stop between 3 and 8 miles. But banana's, medal, lucozade & water at the finish as well as the now infamous long sleeve t-shirt. Top of the compliments has to go to the marshalls of which there were plenty and all very helpful, cheerful and supportive en route. see you next year, defo prefer the race later in the year rather than jan

In short: Nice flat course to get miles in the legs
In full: Typical countryside half, small, quaint, friendly, scenery was as expected.
My only grip would be a lack of water stations, i think from mile 4 to 11 was a bit too far strung out but easily resolvable for next year, only another 1 or two required...oh and mile 5/6 or 6/7 was off but no real drama's.
Nice medal, great feeling seeing the finish line with a mile to go and a left feeling very satisified for my first half in over a year with a 1.44. Glad organisers are trying to solve the minor issues as it has potential and from the sounds of it much improved form previous years -well done.
see you next year

In short: Good enjoyable race
In full: I didn't heed the many warnings and missed the start by 15 mins, the marshalls were very helpful though and I started anyway. They made sure drink stations were aware I was coming and after 1st one I started catching up with people which made me feel I was more in a organised run than a training run. Marshalls were friendly and encouraging all the way round, scenery was lovely but did mean support was sparse but thanks to those who did get out there. Superbly organised, beautiful day for run, perfect training for FLM. Glad I did it.
