In short: 2008 rating. Scenic out and back course with one or two (unexpected!?) hills. In full: Enjoyable 20 largely on a tarmac cycle route, although a particularly attractive short section of trail at the beginning of the return leg. Long downhill outward leg with a climb up onto a country lane and a long, slight uphill all the way back. Has PB potential - missed mine by 4 seconds!! Didn't like the first mile round and round the car park and uninspiring finish funnel with no space to slow down. Date of review: May 23, 2008

In short: A challenging course with a mixture of terrain and scenery. Good medal and food afterwards. In full: A pricey event partly due to the 31-mile coach journey taking competitors to the start from the finish (either before or after the event. First half more scenic with pleasant trails and hill running on grass. There is an 11-mile section in the middle on MoD tank tracks which are very hard on both feet and morale. The last four miles or so include rutted grass tracks which require concentration. A view of Stonehenge 2 miles from the finish is uplifting. Well organised and very pleasant ambience to this event which also has lots of walkers who never fail to cheer you on. Date of review: May 23, 2008

In short: An attractive and flat run using the Taff Trail, with one hilly deviation onto a rural road with scenic views. s In full: A small but well-organised event that had some last minute adjustments to the route. Hope in future years a first mile round and round the car park could be avoided. Once out on the trail route fairly easy to follow by use of painted arrows on ground and marshals at key points. Mostly tarmac but a very good stretch of compacted trail by the Taff at the beginning of the second half which was also the most scenic part of the course. Rather abrupt and low-key finish area. Plenty of free parking. Date of review: March 10, 2008

In short: Looks like it's going to take several years before I conquer this one. Very tough but enjoyable in a masochistic sort of way. Could the 4-3-2-1 miles-to-go markers be put closer together please? Date of review: August 12, 2005
