In short: Seems to get quicker In full: As well organised as ever, and benefiting from the facilities of the racecourse stands - changing, toilets, cafe etc - the Brass Monkey's main selling point has to be the flat terrain and PB potential. You're never going to get a picturesque pancake flat race, but the monkey is at least 99% rural and uncrowded, if a little dull. The hospitality is always spot on and it fits nicely between big city events and obscure local races. I prefer the latter and this race is near enough for my liking. Best be quick next september, though, 'cos it sold out in 2 days this time. Date of review: January 23, 2007

In short: Gets better every year In full: Excellent friendly race, not quite the easiest course but clockwork organisation and superb atmosphere made it a pleasure again. And a minute quicker than last year despite the cold/wind/rain. Date of review: December 10, 2006

Proper off road course, lots of mud, scree and inclines but hundreds of lik- minded individuals of all abilities. Impossible to fault - great momentos, food, music and friends. In short: Brilliant but brutal In full: Fantastic event all round. The village is very welcoming, the course rewards your (very)hard work with superb views and a couple of nice long downhills and there's a real sense of achievement at the end as you drop into the village square to applause a BBQ and a pint.
