In short: Not for the faint hearted!
In full: My first DNF reminded me just how tough this race is. You're taken up and down the downs over and over and then you've got the Sisters and Beachy Head itself. Throw in the slippery mud, the wind and the rain and you've got a mix that can tame and shame the hardest of us. But the supporters and support workers are fantastic and despite my failure this year I'm sure I'll be back.

In short: A great way to spend Sunday morning
In full: OK, so you can't overtake easily. Yes, you have to clamber over stiles and wait at kissing gates. Maybe the start was a little bit sub-optimal this year.
But it's still a really nice run. Don't come here if you want a PB, but if you want to be competitive, there's plenty of challenge, but if you just want to take it easy and enjoy, there's plenty of pleasure to be had.

In short: The 'hilly half' is a must.
In full: Fantastic organisation and support once again. The town seems genuinely to love hosting this event and this year the weather came out in support as well. Ok so it's tough, but would you really want it to be easy?

In short: Slippery When Wet!
In full: ...But a brilliant run anyway, and thankfully it was only really slidy on the flat bit.

Essential running for anyone who likes it off road.

In short: Brilliant!
In full: Only my third marathon, and my second time here. This race burts, but it's so worth it. PB this year, even with a very sore knee slowing me right down over the Sisters at the end.

Might not be back next year (want to find a flat mara to run), but will definitely be back sometime.

In short: Nice Race & Excellent Cakes!
In full: Everyone said it was really hilly, but really, there was nothing that punishing. The only sharpish bit didn't last long at all, and the run in was gently down. So I came in a good two or three minutes quicker than I had been expecting. Big respect to the providers of refreshments at the end :-) cake lovers take note - this is a most worthy event!

In short: Great course, great support, big race day atmosphere. What more could you want?
In full: Weather turned out fab. The breeze was most welcome, otherwise it would have been too hot!

In short: Nice flat PB course
In full: I was a bit confused at the start - were you supposed to stand in front of or behind the relevant marker? I was going for about 50 / 51 minutes and didn't know whether to get behind the 45-50 minute marker, or behind the 50+ marker. I ended up standing about halfway between the two, but then when we got goinng found myself snaking around slower runners for pretty much the whole of the first kilometre.

Thought the marshalling on the course was very good and effective, although as someone else has noted, they didn't seem terribly friendly.

But with the good crowd and the fast course, I shall probably return in future years.
