In short: mud, dykes, mud, scenery, mud, brilliant marshalls - did I mention the mud! In full: Another extraordinary TRRAC race. Not a normal event... a few miles along the seafront then onto the bike and 9ish miles of the most challenging muddy, energy sapping, cycling that I have ever done. It took an hour to clean my bike which gives some measure of how filthy the course was! Running was quicker than cycling, but jumping through 10' wide dykes slowed the run leg down to a crawl at points! I was filthy from head to toe and grinning like a fool at the end. this was a bloody hard race, but great fun! Defo one to repeat in the future - it's pretty hardcore this early in the season. As with all TRRAC races, the marshalling and organisation were spot on - everyone was friendly and encouraging and supportive. Great Sweatshirt at the end. 10/10. Date of review: January 7, 2008

In short: a challenging race and I took 10 mins off my PB. In full: this is a big race with some big names in it... for middle of the field runners it is a treat to be alongside the elite runners and in this race you can. The hills are a bit testing, but there are some good downs too (albeit one or two of them are a tad steep down). Organisation was excellent, fantastic parking, signage etc was spot on.. the whole thing worked well.
Will defo do it again and will encourage others to do the same. Date of review: February 4, 2007

In short: This years race had all of the correct ingredients - pre-race organisation excellent, marshalls brilliant, drink stations (plus sweets etc) fantastic. Well done TRAC!! In full: This was a first half for me (although I've watched/attended many) and I was a little daunted by the forum chat of hills etc. The hills are not extreme - one or two long up sections (but you run down them too). There was a great atmosphere about this race from the forum build up through to the start and all round the course. Great end too (Good T shirt/medal and some nice touches like the sports drink/banana/flapjack/water at the end.
As a first race I was assured a PB but had no intention of running it just over the 2 hour mark - my training pointed more at 2 1/2 hour time so I was thrilled. It was a tad windy, but we can't hold the organisers responsible for that!! A massive well done to the them... I will definitely return in future years... Date of review: September 5, 2006
