In short: Grand scenery and possibly one of the best last mile views around. But it's a very long last mile! In full: The strange lunchtime start was helped this year by cool weather, though we could have done without that north wind. The marshals were EXCELLENT - someone please congratulate them for friendliness, cheerfulness and encouraging applause at all the right moments. And then there was the one who gave us a lecture about breathing and lactic acid by Sandpit Gate. Good organisation and (for a change) what felt like the right number of ladies loos. Thanks Windsor. In short: Local Beeches Girl - how could I not?? In full: 3rd time for me, and getting faster every year (only by about a minute a time, but at my advanced age ...) Everything as well organised as ever, the hills still catch me out on the 2nd lap and God knows I ought to be used to them by now, but I'll still be back for more. In any case, leaving home at 9.30 for a 9.50 line-up is always attractive! Date of review: August 24, 2010

In short: Not nearly as hot as 2008 (sorry!), still fab, lovely morning's run along the Thames In full: Organisation exemplary as ever - signposting, buses, start/finish, water stations, lots of cheery marshals, still not quite enough portaloos, but there never could be (unless we get one each) The new start area is a definite improvement. Even cooler weather conditions laid on. Lightly touched by the Gods, as ever. Date of review: July 25, 2010

In short: Fabulous run along the Thames, virtually no hills, lovely scenery, best marshalls ever, drums and all. And Purple Patch seem to have a hot line to the weather gods - YET AGAIN, the sun shone. (When can I enter for next year? ;-)) Date of review: March 21, 2010

In short: Stunning course through beautiful park (thank you weather gods too) loads of water, more loos please, lovely marshals, loads of freebies. I only say 'Maybe' cos I don't generally like crowded events. Date of review: October 12, 2008

In short: Fabulous race on home ground - definite advantage knowing about the hills - great organisation and atmosphere. In full: 2nd time I've done this, and even better. Weather about as perfect as one could hope for, a mysterious PB (in that I got one with a suspect knee), friendly encouraging marshals and local support. Only niggle = steep slope at start/finish (especially at the finish when you might be trying to sprint). Not sure if the organisers could find a less precipitous slope to run up and down? (especially dangerous when wet?!) But I'll definitely be back next year. Thanks Burnham Joggers and all others involved in the organisation, and Caldicotts for hospitality. In short: Reasonable for a concrete jungle race, great local support In full: Confirmed me in my view that I prefer rural races, but that's not the fault of the organisers. No hitches from where I was standing, and the quantity of loos and water stations should be applauded. Good atmosphere and cheering locals with bags of jelly babies. Definitely worth it if you like urban scenery, and good PB potential too. Date of review: March 26, 2007
