In short: Great event, but some extra organising needed
In full: First time I have tackled anything like this. Great challenge and fun in the most part, but there were some issues.

Queuing to tackle bogs was a real problem, but not as big a problem as standing in waist deep, freezing cold water for 20 minutes. It ruined my whole race and many others.

As soon as I got out I couldn't feel my legs and they were completely cramped up. I managed another half mile or so and then my calf went completely and I had to stop. Was attended to by brilliant medical staff and was able to walk the last couple of miles to the finish.

After the water there were people who seemed to be being treated for hypothermic symptoms and when I was with the medical staff they were getting reports through and didn't seem happy with the situation.

It ruined my race and many others. Before that point it was really fun and challenging.

Steep, almost sheer ascents up muddy inclines were very intimidating, but great fun to tackle and trying to haul yourself out of thick bog was a nice change to your standard run.

I would do it again, but I would hope the water issue would be dealt with. I know its hell runners, but nobody should be standing in waist deep water in November for 20 minutes or more.

In short: Great event but I think I prefer the old course
In full: I have run on both courses and from what I can recall the old one was a generally flatter route with more PB potential. The steep up hill in first quarter mile, the hill near mollington, the steep slope to go over dual-carriageway bridge and the hill at the end made it more challenging than expected.

The event as always was well organised and the town hall finish also very good. I would recommend.

In short: Well organised and thoroughly enjoyable event
In full: Had a great day and enjoyed the event very much. Brilliantly organised and for the price it was great to receive a medal and a mug too.

The run off the tarmac paths was testing at times with all the lumps and bumps, but it is advertised as a multi-terrain course so you cannot knock it for that.

Looking forward to next year

In short: Good course and good atmosphere
In full: This was my first 10km race and I thought it was a great course for beginners. Relatively flat but with a few up hill sections to keep you on your toes.
The half mile walk from the car park to the start was good for warming up the muscles.
Would recommend and hope to be back next year!
