In short: Tough introduction to Marathons...
In full: My first full marathon, loved the first 12 miles or so then along came the hill up to St Martha's (including sand...) and things began to hurt. Several shorter hills after that were energy-sapping so the last 8 or 10 miles were fairly painful. Organisation and scenery were great, however i think my 2nd marathon will be mainly on tarmac with fewer hills :-)

In short: Enjoyable run on a lovely spring day!
In full: My first time at Sandy and my first ten mile run... Pleased to get the early hill out of the way, then kept a steady pace until the final 2 quick miles. Lots of club vests but still a friendly atmosphere, helped by the excellent marshalls. The weather helped make this a really enjoyable run, will be back next year.

In short: Lovely setting, excellent marshalls, really enjoyed it!
In full: This was my wife's longest race so far (prior to this she's run a few 5ks) so it was a good challenge for her. I ran with her to encourage her up the sharp hills and really enjoyed it. The course is tough in places but very scenic - i didn't realise Watford could look this good! The organisation was very good and the marshalls were superb, it's a race that we will both run again.

In short: Hot and sweaty fun!
In full: My 2nd running of the event and like last year i enjoyed it. The course is very quick and on a cooler day PBs would have been smashed.
The marshalls are friendly and full of encouragement, the goody bag is decent, and a local charity gets to benefit as well.
Note to self... no gigs before the run next year (last year Springsteen, this year The Killers...)

In short: Lovely setting for a fun and friendly race
In full: Only my 3rd 10k, but the best so far... Set in the scenic grounds of Knebworth House the course is fairly quick, a mix of tarmac and grass. The organisers were good, the weather was ideal for running (cool with a slight breeze) and i really enjoyed the whole experience.

In short: Surprisingly enjoyable run despite the weather...
In full: On another day this would have been an enjoyable run on a very scenic course in the grounds of Hatfield House. This was not another day, this was a day of freezing temperatures and driving rain! At times it was a real struggle, but with the help of enthuasiastic marshalls i just beat my goal time of 60 minutes. The course is undulating, it doesn't have big hills but the mainly updhill stretch to the finish was certainly challenging. The mince pie and hot chocolate at the end were much appreciated!

In short: The first running of this race and it was a lot of fun. The location is uninspiring but the course is fast and flat and the organisers did a very good job overall. The atmosphere was fun and friendly and i'm sure this event will improve next year.
