In short: Great event, maybe add more water. In full: My second go at this great run, I trained for a time around 5hrs and was on course for this until I got to the drink station around 18 miles and discovered that they had no water left. They did have Lucozade Elite but as I had just taken an Isogel with caffine, I thought better of it.
The weather was a lot warmer than last year and in order not to dehydrate even more than I was already I was forced to walk/jog until I had managed to get water at a later water station.
Great event, well put together, well done Chris and Andy. Date of review: October 8, 2013
In short: Second time out and Second time getting a PB, don't know how with the hill. In full: A great event, improve first few miles this year with a wide road section rather than the narrow cycle paths of last year.
Ran this event 1st in 2011 and got a Half PB, having knocked out a new pb at Birmingham Half 4 weeks ago, I wasn't expecting to get another so soon. Nearly 26 mins quicker than last year.
Great event I will be back next year. Date of review: November 20, 2012
In short: Shame my recorded time was 30 mins quicker than my Garmin In full: Having done this race for the last 2 years I was well up for doing it in 2012. Usual issues as previous years, cars and pedestrians trying to use the same gate into carpark leading to queues to get in. Marshalls were great around the course all in all a great race, until you got through the finish.
I recorded a time of 1:17 on my Garmin, there was a facility to check your time before leaving, tap in your number and the time was displayed, Mine said I had completed it in 0:47:20.
Goodie bags at this event have always been good with a medal, T-shirt and other bits and pieces. Not this year they had not got enough and asked people to write down their name, not sure if I should hold my breath and wait to see what happens.
Bottled water had ran out by the time I finished and had to make do with a cup. The Bananas on offer looked like they had been thrown away by a shop at the end of the day.
But I will be back. Date of review: March 11, 2012
In short: Great Orme, Great Run and a PB what more could you ask for. In full: A great event overall, my few grumbles would be water stations were not as advertised, the type of container the water was in and the quantity of it was difficult to manage, and finally the sand on the bike path maybe could have been removed.
Looking back at it I have no idea how I managed a PB. This was my 3rd Half Marathon in 6 weeks and the 3rd PB knocking 13 minutes off my Royal Parks Half time set 6 weeks ago, that being a relatively flat course in comparison to Conwy.
In short: Great first event, well managed, In full: A very well managed event, the two things that would make it better as others have mentioned more toilets and bins around the start area. Date of review: September 4, 2011
In short: Good Crowd, loads of support In full: Very nice start towards the back.(i know my place)Friendly crowd. I had driven the course a few weeks ago but seemed a lot harder by legs. Felt like I was running up hill constantly. Loads of support through the villages. Fantastic finish in the park.
Thanks to all those who gave their time for this race. Date of review: April 26, 2010
