In short: You can tell it's organised by runners. In full: From the ease of park and ride to the faultless organisation at the start and end, this is a great race. A few bumps to keep it interesting including a not very nice drag in the last mile but all in all the best half in the country. Date of review: May 12, 2013

In short: Great way to shake off the Christmas excesses. In full: Great location with fine facilities and welocme at the Miners Arms pub. Clockwork organisation and a route that although flat, is still a challenge being all trail or towpaths. Bacon butty at the end and an unusual twist to proceedings with the chance for everyone to win with it being based on predicted time. Deserves to be an anuual event if not twice yearly. An evening, summer version would be fantastic. Date of review: January 2, 2013

In short: Take numerous factors that shouldn't work and sprinkle with Stockport Harriers dust In full: The route, the rain, the stolen water station, the hills and the impatient Christmas shoppers should have made this a nightmare but once again Stockport Harriers prove why this is the Premier 10 miler in the country. I pb'd which defies logic against a flat route but those marshals are worth an extra minute or two on their own. Thank you everyone who stood in the rain and remained positive, vocal and cheerful right to the end. Same again next year please :) Date of review: December 13, 2011

In short: Faultless event In full: From the moment this race was announced the organisers have shown time and time again that this really is a race put on by fellow runners. Great communication and a faultless event. The support on route was fantastic and the run along the river and into the racecourse was a great touch. Thanks Chester. Date of review: October 10, 2011

In short: A hidden gem in the racing calendar. In full: As ever a great day out with stunning scenery and top notch support and organisation. Not one for someone who likes to run in a crowd as this is very much a case of going it alone across some of Derbyshires finest countryside. Big thanks to Edale Mountain Rescue once again for putting on such a high standard race. Date of review: September 25, 2011

In short: An excellent way to kick start 2011 In full: Have to agree with much that has been said. If the start had to be moved at such short notice, I can only commend the organisers that they managed just get it moved and made the best of a bad situation out of their control. After running the ill-fated Cardiff not-so-half last year I'd rather have that makeshift start and the full distance anyday. Date of review: January 24, 2011

In short: Great way to end the years racing In full: As ever a grand way to finish the year. Challenging but immensely enjoyable, the Stockport 10 never disappoints. Well done to all who braved the cold and the team for organising and putting on this fine race. Date of review: December 12, 2010

In short: Typically well organised Malcolm Folwer race In full: A unique event this one and one that doesn't come around that often. As ever with Malcolms races it was run without hitch and the local community joining in was great. Really enjoyed it and I'm pleased so much money was raised. Well done Malc, Birse & the people of Alderley Edge Date of review: October 24, 2010

2010 Cardiff Half Marathon

In short: A big race that needs to be smaller. In full: Ignoring obvious points like not being a half marathon distance wise and a crap goody bag, it was a race made better by the people of Cardiff. If the organisers want to have 20,000 runners next year they are living in cloud cuckoo land as the course could not accomodate 11,000. Too narrow paths, no effort to prevent slower runners starting at the front and chaos at the start and finish with too many things crammed into small spaces. Not being the full distance is unforgivable. Date of review: October 18, 2010

2010 Freckleton Half Marathon

In full: Well organised and plenty of water stations which in the heat was greatly appreciated. Locals really turn out to support which is a real help. Downside - roads, roads and more roads. I think they are trying to compete with rival North West half marathons like Wilmslow but in the process they are losing touch with the average runner. Elite runners may look good on the results but plodders make up a huge proportion of the participants and income. Learn to treat them all the same and the race may grow as you hope.
