In short: One for the off-road trainers!
In full: Just seen the montage clip for this which reminded me I hadn’t done a race review for it which I meant to.

This was the first time the race had been put on and fair play to the event organisers, especially as it was done by a charity and not a running club, the organisation was bloody spot on. An off road 14 mile run over mountains, down mountains, through lanes and across fields, there was a marshal at every turning. Plenty of drink stations, though I can’t remember at what miles, but I think there were at least 3 of them.

The course is tough. For anyone who has done the N Wales Race the Train, this is tougher! We’re talking big hills, muddy tracks and rough terrain, and then some more … You get to see some fantastic views though.

There was only a small field this year but I think the race wouldn’t be spoiled if the field grew as the first few miles are across fields so enough distance to spread the runners out.
If you’re a medal lover, there was a medal at the end and a lovely bit of food laid on.

Really good event, well done Cotswold Care Hospice.

If anyone is interested in seeing what it was like, this is a link to a montage video:

In short: 10/10
In full: Did this race a few years ago (2009 I think) and since then it has grown into a MUCH bigger event but where so many races fail to keep what makes a race special when they increase the numbers, FoD has got it spot on. The organisation was so smooth, couldn't fault it.

The race takes you down forest trails so the scenary is lovely. There are a couple of steepish sections but nothing to shocking. Plently of water station, lovely medals, all good, and the weather was perfect too.

Thanks to all at FoD

In short: Brilliant as always
In full: Thanks to Thornbury runners for putting on another fantastic Riverside Rollick. Mud seemed a lot less this year and was that a tail wind along the estuary?! Perfect running conditions, really good race.

In short: Fabulous race
In full: Excellent organisation, lots of marshalls who I'd like to thank now as I couldn't manage more than a grunt when I passed most of them.

Interesting and tough course with very friendly runners.

Special mention to the marshals that picked up the portaloo unit from the mens area and moved it to the ladies queue :)

In short: Another great run by Cardiff - but too many runners this year spoilt it slightly.
In full: Last year Cardiff had this race spot on, and obviously a lot of thought has gone into the new course. Overall it was very good, but there really were too many runners, the first 6 miles were a squash and so many people started waaaaaaaaaaay ahead of where they should have ...

In short: Mudtastic
In full: Another great race from the Thornbury runners. Perfect weather for it, well done! Super friendly marshalls (thanks to all). A very good idea to have the stream at the end to wash off the trainers.

In short: Top race
In full: Found this quite a toughie but lots of fun. Great start up the sand dune, I've never heard so much heavy breathing in my life as I did at the top! I'm cross I didn't have the mulled wine, at the time it didn't seem like a good idea. The stream was VERY cold at the end, I'm hoping for some heating solution next year because I'll definately be back for more :)

In short: Best for PBs
In full: Was worried to start with it would be sunny but the drizzle and rain began at the start line so that was ok, Torfaen half would be wrong if it didn't rain :)

I love this race, always very friendly and the effort made at the finish line is great. The lap (and a bit) around the track at the end is always a killer. 6 minutes faster than last year, see you next year.

In short: Nice one Cardiff
In full: Well done Cardiff, impressive stuff. Very well organised. Got a PB, taking me from the 1.50s to the 1.40s so very pleased. The weather was perfect for running too.

Only moan, and it has to be mentioned is the queue for the baggage. I didn't have any issues getting my bag but my mate queued for over an hour!! The baggage staff were running around frantically but there needed to be a marshall there to make sure runners were in the correct queue as it was runners joining the wrong queue that was causing the problems.

Anyway, I couldn't care really, I had a fab race! Whoop whoop :)
