In short: The Womble's is back in town In full: Having done this course twice...I finally cracked it and got a pb on the course. Yes, a little bit of organising at the end would not go amiss with the water but I did enjoy the course and the scenic and the challenging hills. Date of review: October 13, 2014
In short: Crazy but I did it!! In full: The sun was out! Was worried the queues for the registration was going to take forever but can understand why do it on the day.
But feel sorry for everyone having to queue up for the 4 cubicles??!!! Wow!
Course for the first 4-5 miles was pretty much trail and keeps you on your feet but then the hills came along!!! Just when you think its finished, there were more! I got lost at a turning so can see why some runners got lost. Two of the hills were steep...and admittedly, I walked the latter part of the first hardest one, but the one in the woods with the steps! Everyone walked up the half a mile one which took me 7 minutes to climb. I still came in with a respectable time. My watch showed 13.65 miles which is why I thought the last few miles just went on. The last stretch was very deceptive not knowing where the finish line was...but glorious sight it was.
Great marshaling and volunteers!! and the water and gel were much needed. Only gripe was no shuttle bus to take me back to the car park :P Date of review: June 22, 2014
In short: Womble-tastic Half Marathon In full: Well the half marathon route was an enjoyable treat. Didn't think I would be running in and around for 13 miles in woodlands and in muddy conditions. My watch gave me a distance of 13.45 miles but I suspect due to the weaving of the puddles. But it appeared we deviated from the actual map route course in the middle? I enjoyed the challenge but wished I wore my trail shoes. Definitely not a pb course if weaving is involved or has been raining but the last 1 mile seems to go on and on especially when watch shows I should had finished!
There was a dangerous moment during a bend if you do look up as a big broken log could potential inpale into someone eyes.
Great Medal and organisation! (albeit the baggage..but then I didn't have any). Date of review: May 12, 2014
In short: Interesting and great venue In full: I liked the venue and the road route. Was mostly flat with the exception of 1 hill which was undulating but can see it would break some runners towards the end. I PB'ed in this race which I was happy with but and I enjoyed it but the lack of marshals on some of the junctions can be a bit discerning. Feel sorry for the slower runners if with all the car trying to leave the parking areas. Venue was good and a bit of a toilet queue for some. Can do with some time pens as it was free for all.
Overall, see you next year! Date of review: March 23, 2014
In short: Interesting course In full: I always thought Bracknell to be a scenic town, but my first tour in the race was lots of underpass to go through. Nevertheless, couldn't fault the organisation and the crowds for making this a special race. The goody bag was a nice surprise to get a medal, a bag and a towel! Not a PB course but will put my name down for next year. Date of review: April 29, 2013
In short: PB potential but no fuel replacement en-route or at the end. In full: Terrible weather to say the least and I forgot my gel packs in the car. Ran the first 10 miles on the moderately flat course which was nice in a nice PB...but as it was cold and no fuel along the course, my body broke down and I hobbled to the end freezing cold. Really wished at that point I didn't forget my gels. No banana or anything to eat at the end???!!! Just water! Felt let down on that aspect otherwise a good PB course. (No..I didn't get one) Date of review: March 5, 2012
In short: Nice day for a run... In full: Had a great day yesterday but I do really miss that outdoor swimming pool target practice for used sport drinks to throw into like last years!! Its now a car rental? or a empty lot.
Anyone stopped for a burger that was being cooking!! Date of review: March 7, 2011
In short: Honestly the best race course of the year!!! In full: Just joking...
1) What Queues? - About 200-300 metres long 2) 10 Toilets for 1500 odd runners? lucky I held on 3) Bang!! - What? it started??! better start running 4) water stop? Manage to grab one of the 100 plastic cup pre-filled. Don't know about the other 1400 cups to fill up by the 1 person who I felt sorry for. 5) Finish line? Oh..there it is! But it looks like a M25 traffic jam...oh dear
Highlight? Monica Galetti from Masterchef ran!
Now where are the results! Date of review: November 9, 2009
In short: Loved it In full: Transport from the train station was good, lots of toilets, great venue. The only thing in the beginining would be some order to putting in our bags. The signs for baggage outside the tents were not clear and probably not enough ppl helping out.
All in all..I am glad the colour sections were implemented but some slow runners in the pink section! The drink stations and jelly babies were excellent but they did give out something like 5 in one go. Didn't need to be wasteful. So can understand why they ran out so quickly!
Though I had another PB and my result isn't on the list (Chip must not have been registered?), I can't complain but feel for the slower runners who did not get their reward of drinks and goodie bags.
Getting bags back was chaotic...not as bad as Heathrow baggage area though! Date of review: March 2, 2008
In short: Loved the jelly babies given away by the kind little girls In full: That hill on mile 7 lasting 1.2miles was certainly a challenge and the support of the organisers and crowds were great! Loved the goodies bags and free entrances to LA Fitness to relieve the tired muscles. The last 2 miles, had help on hand with 2 jelly babies :) Thank you! Date of review: February 27, 2008
