In full: Third year for me at this event and I love it. Last year was dire with all the mud etc but just the way things are in this country with our crazy weather. This year the mud was firmed up nice and hard, but that too could have it's problems if you took your eye off the path to check out the lovely views. Some of my pals got caught up in the miss-direction at the beginning but again, these things happen - it is a shame but it is not a run you would do to go chase any crazy PB and it is good to see the organisers are trying to make amends by looking to adjust finishing times by pace etc and offering free entry next year. I think that's more than some would do. Very good marshaling with lots of treats at the water stations...big thanks for that. Did not like the finish though, although understand the need for it. I have run that bit in reverse at the clubs yearly league run which had to be diverted a few years ago and had no real concerns about it but had forgotten that the field just goes on and on and the last little sting in the tail bit !! Not nice. Lovely brekkie and the young girls sorting out the orders were just so orginised and grown up about it all....so polite so big thanks to them....and all at Steyning AC. In full: LOVE this event. It is multi terrain and I like that. Slightly different route this year due to muddy coastal path so that threw me a bit but I understood why. Very friendly run, great mix of abilities, gorgeous weather - and I did this in 2010 when it was just dire !! A challenge to wend your way through the happy sunny seeking strollers along the seafront but I was expecting that and just kept my wits about me. I have no problems with that. Fantastic goody bag - the freebies just kept coming !!! Thanks to organisers for putting on yet another great event. Date of review: February 18, 2013

In full: What an awesome event the full marathon was !! Only decided on Friday to do it and am so happy I did. Very surprised at just how lovely the scenery was...just the bits by the road were abit grim but short lived. I loved it...i loved the extra bits at the water stations...marshmallows, choccie bars and coca cola !! That was a lovely extra special touch. Some gorgeous country lanes en route with very little traffic. A couple of monster hills but so what...what goes up must come down. A brilliant event and one to put in your diary for next year but also fab weather helped. Date of review: November 18, 2012

In short: Second time at this event with a 'gap year'. Enjoyed it more as i knew where the boring bits were. It doesn't pretend to be interesting and it kind of isn't but it gives you the opportunity to get your head down and just go for a decent time. I will Date of review: October 30, 2012

In full: What a marvellous event !! Was my 35th marathon - 13th this year and entered it on a whim only a few weeks ago. Was suffering from a head cold and a bit daft really to do it but it seemed churlish not to having paid and offered a lift to a fellow running pal! Park and ride did concern me initially but no way, it worked extremely well. The route was tough as already stated but just such lovely countryside. At one point I had stopped on a bridge to look at the river and swans, not realising there was a photographer at the other end, so, my 'running' picture will be of me gawping into the distance at the lovely scene. Could be one I'd actually purchase. Having done quite a few maras now I can honestly say this one was the best marked, best marshaled ever. Every turn and corner was so well signed and as many as possible had a cheering / clapping marshal there to see you on your way. Great atmosphere as well and what a wonderful crowd at the finish. I came in 10 mins under 5 hours and thought there must be a celeb behind me with all the cheering !! Good to have such support. A wonderful event and am glad I dragged myself out of my sick bed - am happy to report that it sorted my cold out once and for all. Many thanks Clarendon. I will be back !! In full: Fifth year at this event - 4th as full marathon and yes, the weather was just dire BUT I enjoyed it yet again. It is interesting to compare a bad weather year to the previous years I have run it and it alomost makes it a completly different run. Mile 12 I started to see spots before my eyes as was just getting pretty tierd and cold having run along the old train track and tried to navigate around the biger puddle...waste of time some might say but you can't help but worry about possible blisters further on. I was very suitable dressed as well and could even have had gloves on. Was surprised just how inadequately some runners were dressed....shorts and vest...not too good. I fell into step with a great yomp crew and a nice chap called Roger. Stayed with him for about 7 miles and whilst it was his first marathon and my 34th, it most certainly gave me a great boost. So, in a nutshell, it's stuff like that that can make a run. The marshalls were just fab and I tried to thank each and every one. Bad weather does bring out the true spirit of us crazy runners as we are all in it together. I just love this event and I plan to be back year in year out, regarldess of the weather. Thanks again New Forest. Date of review: September 24, 2012

In full: This is a fab event - fab day out - just fab. I know I am abit tardy in rating it but felt I had to in light of the previous post which was made in May 2012 on which a rater gave this great event a low score based mainly on the hot weather and also on what appears to be them not being prepared for it. I would never expect a run to sort out my gels for me...I take plenty for myself especially if the weather was forcast as being hot. There are jelly babies on route and plenty of water. Just take your own gels with you as I think to rely on them being there is just a wee bit daft. Great marathon - one of the best. Date of review: September 10, 2012

In full: Did this first in 2010 and liked it, but not as much as I do now after a second outing. Second time around you know what to expect and are not too shocked ! This is a wonderful run, so well organised and the water stations have some well worked for extras - such as bread and butter pudding style cakes !! Lovely. First time i did it I was a tad concered about the last few miles through the city centre but I loved it this year. Tough old climbs in places but I knew where the tops were !! All monies go to a great cause as well. Loved it. Date of review: August 14, 2012

In full: Just read some of the other reviews and one in particular stood out about miserable marshalls. I did NOT see any of that ! This was my 31st marathon and 8th this year. I tried my hardest to get a GFA but just missed out, as did two other ladies who were just ahead of me. Not too upset tho as I got a new PB and also first in my category - I have to add that I was the only one in my category....lol. Well I loved it. Most laps I have ever done before was Kent Road Runner which was 17. This was different as not much to look at whilst getting around due to hedges but I have to say, lots of greets and chats from other runners altho I got the impression lots were there to get that PB or GFA. I had no problem with the finish line - I saw it and as I threw myself over it a lovely man came over to give me my medal and ask how I got on. I almost threw up on him but managed to hold it in, thank God ! I didn't know I'd got first in age group until I'd got home, back to Sussex. I e.mailed Anne Wilson who replied almost instantly and two days later I got my prize. Well chuffed. I will be back as it does exactly what it said on the tin...apart from 'only' being 11 and a bit laps and not twelve ! Lovely setting and weather very kind to us all this year. Well done to the winner being a lady....you don't see that too often !! Date of review: July 20, 2012
