In short: Village pub race HQ, small, well-organised and plenty of marshalls, plus BBQ and a jazz band. What more does a bank holiday race need! Date of review: August 28, 2012

In short: I got the spoon! Not sure my legs loved this as much as I did... In full: Well worth the drive from Oxfordshire for. A great start to the New Year. The other runners were so encouraging to me (I don't normally see anyone after the first mile of a race!). The marshalls were great, thanks for waiting around in the cold for me. Loved the soup and cheese roll at the end. I didn't get the fiver in my cracker either (I wonder if it's a myth?). Love the t-shirt and bumbag. Carrot is in my cupboard and spoon pride of place in the display cabinet. Hope to see you next year (if you'll have me!) Dr Robert & team! Date of review: January 2, 2006

In short: Challenging, Multi-terrain, Scenic - a great Sunday morning run In full: This is only the second time I've done this one - did the inaugural one. Course has changed slightly to then, but still very enjoyable. Undulations seemed bigger than I remembered and I was slower this time round but I really enjoyed it. A perfect end to the school hols and the kids enjoyed the fun run to boot! One request from them, though, please could they have a fun run medal next time...??? Also, some sort of shelter for supporters - it apparently got quite hot in the start/finish area (I wouldn't know as I was enjoying the mainly shaded course...)
Top notch - well done Newbury AC. I love this course and will be back next year for more. Date of review: September 5, 2005

In short: Nice race, nothing fancy! In full: Ice cream man left before I could take advantage of his services! Flat, round and round the newest housing estate of Didcot. Lots of marshalls and arrows. Nice medal and nicely organised. Even had a commentator to say who was coming over the line! Will probably do it again next year. This year's 5 mile PB race! Date of review: June 26, 2005

In short: Worth combating rush hour traffic for! In full: Absolutely loved this! First time and didn't know what to expect. First 3 miles undulating and loved the downward feel for the last couple of miles! You sped up, whether you wanted to or not! Loved the mug and Mars bar! Very friendly and people from all over! Can't wait for 2006! Date of review: June 16, 2005

In short: Oxon countryside (and weather) at its best - all for a good cause! In full: Lots of friendly marshalls, well signposted, lovely refreshments for after, started on time and sunshine too! Well done East Hagbourne and surrounding villages for putting on a great fun run. Here's to next year! Multi-terrain at its best. Hope that lots of money made for Ovarian Cancer Research. A few undulations and not too muddy. Date of review: May 2, 2005

In short: The most friendly 10K I've ever done! In full: What can I say? A lot of larger races could learn from this one. Very smooth organisation, friendly marshalls, lovely countryside course and well worth getting up on a Sunday morning for. Hot cross bun was most welcome at the end and the refreshments in the Parish Hall looked very appealing - shame I didn't have any money with me!! "I'll be back" next year for certain! In short: What a race! Glorious weather! Fantastic Scenery! In full: The mud, although not so much this year, the bog (superglue coloured brown!), the water, the shingle, the cliff path, the stairway to heaven, the beech, the cider at the Cub Split, great local support, smooth clockwork organisation that starts on time (Reading please take note!), jelly babies and wine gums, great inspirational sayings - it hurts like hell and we get so wet and muddy but we always come back because there is nothing else like it, nor the feeling of achievement at the end! It is tough, not for wimps and it is The Grizzly! Date of review: March 15, 2005

In short: Liked the medal, but pricey race and organisation could be better. Last 3 miles I lost the will to run! In full: The race has pros and cons. Entry a bit steep considering what you got for your dosh and t-shirts were extra. The medal was nice. The dual carriageway bit up to Green Park and the Green Park bit had little support and it was demoralising to see runners that had already finished walking back along the route to the town centre. Nice touch to finish in the stadium in front of the stands - almost olympic feel to it. Queues for goody bag, medal etc had lots of already finished runners and supporters to weave in and out of (last thing my legs wanted to do!). Army chaps and chappesses doing the baggage lorries and chip removal were brilliant. Maybe the should take over the rest of the organising so it runs more smoothly. Very cold and after standing at the start for nearly 45 mins it took ages for my legs to get going! Sorry Reading, won't be going back! Just confirmed that large road races are not for me - will try to stick to smaller road races or multi-terrain instead! Date of review: March 8, 2005
