In short: Wonderful PB until I realised it was short!
In full: The change around of the route did not improve the race. Last year the Cardiff Half was my first Half Marathon and also the weekend I found out I had a place in the London Marathon so this will always be a special race. However this year being that little bit quicker I found the first part of the route hard work due to bunching up along narrow paths. I managed to miss most of the issues at the start as our club laid on a coach and we used the toilets at the millenium centre (ignoring the barrier stopping you from going to the toilets upstairs - don't open the place if you don't want runners in!). The lack of mile markers made it hard to track your timing and the end mile being able to see the finish line but having to run past it was mentally draining! Worst though is the incorrect distance - I'm not sure if this has been confirmed however I do know that other people on our bus said their Garmins showed it to be 12.9. Will have to wait for the outcome of that! All that said , I'll probably still run it again next year.

In short: Despite the awful weather, it was a great race
In full: Weather awful, huge puddles/ streams making my feet heavy with water, strong winds, hilly and very tough. That said, thoroughly enjoyed it, well organised and beautiful scenery. Will definitely do it again next year if only for the coffee cake!
