In full: Ran this race in 2003, never forgot it as I classed it as a 'PW' - Personal Wettest, rather than Personal Worst, as all the rain we hadn't had in the previous 6 months landed on Marlow that morning and the course was flooded in places. Then moved away in 2005, but decided a few months ago it might be good to come back to do the race again, thinking how pretty it could be if it was a sunny Autumn day...ha ha!Though the rain did more or less stop soon after we set off, the course was even more flooded than 2003 - maybe it's my fault? The Weather Gods had noticed I was coming back? Perhaps it's time to rename the race Marlow Half Paddle-athon.Certainly made doubly sure I'll never forget this race! Date of review: November 12, 2012

In short: Ouch! In full: Lucky enough to have a place in the women's championships - was more or less on my own over Tower Bridge, so hearing hundreds of people all cheering me as an individual, not just a face in the mass of bobbing heads, was amazing and gave me a huge boost. Was also a huge privilege, (and very humbling!)to see the male elites go flying past at around 18 miles though I didn't get to watch them for long. Date of review: April 25, 2006
