In short: Good fun event. Very different from your usual half In full: Fantastic day out. Even the rain couldn't dampen our spirits! Lots of fancy dress, wine, well stocked feed stations, friendly, nice downhill stint to the finish and hog roast (well I had the veggie version and it was nice to have a choice of food).
Only down side I can think of is that the t-shirt was done by men's sizes. For a size 8-10 woman a men's small is still far too big. Date of review: September 9, 2013
In short: Good flat race. Well organised In full: Positives
Race was well organised Free entry to London Zoo with the entry fee (and reduced entry for supporters) Marsalls were good and cheered people on. Three lap course meant you passed the water station three times, and it seemed to be well stocked. Fairly good goodie bag, mainly containing food, but also a nice tiger pin. Flat course with good PB potential once you get out the first Km which zig zagged around the zoo.
Negatives Entry quite steep for a 10k (though does include zoo entry) Not being speedy I don't know how much of a problem this was, back it was hard to know when you were being lapped. When the race leaders were coming through they looked like they were having to weave quite a lot. Medal was quite cheap looking. I'd have liked an animal picture on it and maybe the year of the event. Date of review: September 17, 2012
In short: Good support at my home race. Shame about the weather! In full: Only negatives I had was the course was a little narrow in the first half. I did sneak around a couple of cones to get past people and got told off by a marshall This was partly due to being placed in the wrong corral - I was aiming for 4:30 and already had a sub 5 marathon finish but was in a 5-6 hour corral which meant I spent the first half over taking people.
Overall the event was well organised. The bit round the powerstation was a bit boring, but I can't think where else the course could go without having big hills or seriously resticting traffic around the city. Music round the course was a nice touch, and the support from the crowd was great. I'd definitely do it again. If I hadn't decided to have a year off marathons next year I'd have entered already. In short: The best supported race I've done. Hills a challenge but I smashed my PB! In full: Fantastic support, especially from the churches and pubs. Challenging run, but really enjoyed it. Felt the end could have been better organised as I had to ask someone where I could find water, but free tea for runners was a nice touch. Oh and would have considered getting the hoodie if the ladies one wasn't such an awful pink colour! Date of review: March 21, 2010
