In short: Bargain Race; beautiful, challenging and friendly
In full: A really beautiful day, wonderful route and very friendly marshals and participants.

Nothing to get you talking with fellow walkers/runners than discussing whether this is the X-TK with ST 10yds to right :)

Once I'd got into the zone with the language of the directions, and kept my finger on where I was all the time they were great. Only one minor detour before CP3 on the 30miler.

A huge thank you to the marshals at the checkpoints, great range of food (peanuts was a great idea!) and lovely hot tea at CP3. Thanks for braving the cold for us!

Only downside was queue to check in at the finish, I absolutely froze and stiffened up. But the people at the finish desk looked even colder!

In short: Wonderful race that really made my year
In full: I ran the half marathon, in a pretty slow time as the conditions and terrain were really challenging. My trail shoes were overwhelmed by the mud and my legs overwhelmed by the hills!

So why rate the race so highly; because the organisation, atmosphere and views were truely amazing and awe inspiring. People with a real passion for running (organisers, marshals and runners) were joined together enjoying a real challenge in fantastic surroundings.

To play devil's advocate to other comments about the water stations; whilst I agree they weren't overflowing with items, we were told in the instructions to being our own water and energy bars/snacks

In short: Great route, organisation slipping
In full: The route is fantastic and the runners and marshals were great and very supportive.

Sadly a few things let it down a little for me, over the 2010 race, especially with the entry price;
- mile markers seemed out, the last 1.2 miles wasn't 1.2 miles :(
- finish was very crowded, had to scream to a halt at the line as there was no room beyond it. No idea where to go to get goody bag/drink
- where has the tech tee gone? and a small FGS after a marathon?

In short: Brilliant race, but not quite as good as previous Turbo X's...?
In full: Great race, very challenging, great fun in the mud :)

The interesting thing is why this didn't feel as good as last year, a few things I think might have caused this;
- smaller field? I was pretty much on my own for half the race which meant I missed out on the banter, especially in the muddy bits
- lack of marshals, some key bits of the course with no-one there and some really not interested in the race :(
- some bits of the course where the markings could have been clearer (I was reminding people to follow the markings, not other runners ;) ) and one area where they had obviously been removed and I went the wrong way!
- tech tee sub-standard to previous years, shouldn't have bothered with the cap. bottle and For goodness shakes was good though :)
