In short: Fairly tough, but well worth it In full: Very windy and undulating. It's a challenging race, but very satisfying. The climbs aren't too bad, as long as you've kept a bit in reserve and not run flat out. I managed a PB. The marshall's were great - I'm not sure if I'd like to stand in the middle of a road in violent winds for 2 hours being a human cone. The organisation is great, and I really appreciated the support from marshalls and local residents. Can't wait for next year. Date of review: January 22, 2012

In short: Great course and tremendous atmosphere In full: Tough, but i'd guess 26.2 is never easy. Plenty of gels/drinks in 2nd half and loads of water throughout. Support great on both sides of the Mersey. Hearing the drumming whilst in the tunnel and the explosion of sound (drums and cheers) on the exit is amazing. Climb on the Liverpool side probably makes the 2nd half tougher than many other marathons, but it also means a downhill last 2 miles. Delay and poor PA at start didn't take the shine off the day. My 2nd marathon, and I think it's got me addicted. Can't wait for 14/10/12 Date of review: October 25, 2011

In short: The best half marathon. My third year on the run and I'm already looking forward to next year. In full: Challenging, but very rewarding. Fast today with less wind than last couple of years, but the 3 min wade obviously slows things a bit. I adore this race. My only minor gripe was the chip timing introduced this year - I didn't realise it didn't take into account your start time, so lost 40 secs ambling to the start line. A huge thank you to all involved in the organisation of the race. Thanks for letting me run on the blue bits of the map. Date of review: July 24, 2011

In short: Loved it. Some challenging hills, but very satisfying. It's good to know at 4 miles you've got the tough climbs out of the way. I'll definitely run it again. Date of review: February 27, 2011

In short: Undulating run in the park. In full: Fairly challenging. Decent enough freebies. My only real gripe was that the distance markers seemed to be well out. Overall, a nice fun run for a good cause. Date of review: February 13, 2011
