In short: A life-changing (if not life threatening) event In full: Much more difficult than I expected but somehow the miracle workers at the checkpoints get me going and got me to the finish. Brilliant event but never again - too much for me. Date of review: May 27, 2008

In short: If you've only got one ultra in you then this should be the one In full: Splendid backup, food, water and general organisation make this race about as painless as it could possibly be to run a double marathon.
In the scorching heat the guys manning the drink stations had to work as hard as the runners. Date of review: July 18, 2005

In short: With some decent signposting it could be great. In full: 26 miles of mud, hills and more hills with no shade on a hot, sticky day is tough enough without adding the extra complication of an almost completely unmarked course. Even the helpers at the drinks stations didn't seem to know which way to go. It's just too demanding a route to have runners going 3 or 4 miles overdistance.
Sort out the route and it could be great race. Date of review: May 2, 2005
