In short: Glorious morning, fab scenery- just a shame the Bore passed me at the one point where the bushes hid it from view!

In short: some dull stretches and patchy support
In full: The route was quite dull for lengthy stretches, only the university and embankment was truly scenic. The pacers seemed to be pretty fast - I finished in 2:15 but the 2:15 pacer chap finished about 5 mins ahead of me I think! The final stretch along the embankment was annoying - quite narrow but busy and lots of people stopping to walk meaning you had to run over rough grass to get past. A random selection of stuff in the goody bag, but I was happy with it!

In short: No water at the finish?!?
In full: There seemed to be very few loos for the claimed 1000 runners (didn't look like that many to me)but as we arrived in good time the queues were quite short. The start was ok - the marshal was very very clear about no ipods etc and I understand that some people were actually disqualified for using them. The first 5 miles are pretty dull and the road surface at mile 7-8 was horrible and tiring. The support was patchy and a bit muted. I would prefer water in cups to bottles (and please marshalls, at least unscrew the caps!)but was astonished that there was no water at the finish - they were lucky it wasn't a warm day. Goody bag was poor - empty apart from a couple of flyers. Good race for a PB, but too expensive for what you got.

In short: Enjoyable event
In full: Quite congested at the start (I started alongside the sub-60 min placard) and it took a while - a mile perhaps? to get enough space to find my rhythm. Well marshalled, and quite well supported in the city centre. Final couple of k were in the park, and last 400m on grass - luckily not muddy after recent rain!

In short: Wind and rain but a good event
In full: The weather conditions were horrendous (especially running up that bloomin "motorway" section) but this was a well-organised and friendly event which on a calmer day would definitely offer PB potential. Planes cars and lorries scattered about make for interesting "scenery"!

In short: Great course, marshalls, organisation!
In full: My first race of this nature and I loved it! Quite challenging but not overwhelming. Definitely on my to-do list for next year.

In short: Some surprising hills but the skylarks were singing!
In full: Good views(though in blustery weather it could feel very exposed in places)and the second half contained some annoying hills - Bennetts Hill at the 12 mile mark was aptly named the sting in the tail!
